Hi everyone. This may be a bit of a dumb question because I know these cars are meant to be tracked, BUT I thought I would ask your opinion on a potential purchase. I've been in the market for some time, and have recently decided to fully commit to buying a Gt350.

I've bought an used SS 1LE and an E90 M3 before so I've had cars that were potentially tracked, but none with as high mileage as this particular car. It's a 2017 with approximately 56k miles. Been tracked over 20 times. The positives are it has a powertrain warranty until next year, but since I'm in CA, I can't buy the Ford ESP warranty online. The car has had the clutch, slave cylinder, flywheel and transmission replaced under warranty. Has some mods, but nothing done to the powertrain (no tune, etc.). Seller is willing for me to have a PPI done. IMO the price is very reasonable, but is it too good?

I work remotely so don't need a DD.

As I read this I'm hating how I'm sounding. Should I just shut up and buy/drive it? Thanks for your input!

First off with that kind of mileage the car has done very well as far as a repairs that have been done. Maintenance and upkeep by the owner are always high on the list on deciding on a car. What you omitted which is probably the most important factor is the price. Itā€™s difficult to give feedback without that variable. The extended warranty is a good bonus.

Thanks for the reply! Indeed, yeah thatā€™s the other part is carfax doesnā€™t show the maintenance intervals. It was a CPO car.

I knew I was forgetting something. Sorry about that! Seller is asking $43,900. The seller purchased less than a year ago for 50k on cars and bids. The price is something that is worrisome or could be the market weakening. Thanks!

cant speak for everyone, but 43k is a pretty good dealā€¦my 350R is about to click over 50k and I wouldnā€™t let her go for anywhere near that šŸ˜‰

If I was buying the car, I would factor in a 10k engine refresh budget for when the time came. As for the rest of the incidentals that could possibly go wrong as time goes on, throw a number on that too and then see how that low price sounds.

A high milage performance vehicle is asking for trouble IMHO.

spend more for a car still under an extended warranty unless you are ready to take on the possible expenses.

Haha donā€™t blame you! Right I was thinking the same. Been seeing a downward trend but still think itā€™s a decent deal. In 6 months from now? Who knows.

Thanks for the feedback, and thatā€™s a great point about budgeting/factoring for engine refresh/misc other parts. Like I said, I had an E90 M3 with the S65 motor that isnā€™t know for its reliability without a rod bearing replacement. Even with the market for NA engines, the E9x M3 is a great way to get into a high revving V8. BUT like you said, an enticing purchase price can lead to ultimately spending more in fixing the reasons why the price was so low!

I was planning on spending ~50k depending on the car, so wanted to see what the consensus was amongst experts here.

Iā€™ve seen some higher mileage gt350ā€™s, so Iā€™m not completely terrified of a higher mileage car, but yeah I think it would be wise to factor that into the budget. Thanks!

Why canā€™t you buy the Ford ESP on-line. Iā€™m in CA (unless you mean Canada not California :)) Iā€™ve bought my ESP from flood Ford on-line for both new (2022 Mach) and used (2018 Raptor) never an issue, honored by ford, both attached to my vins never a problem.

You talk the thing of a Camaro guy. Buy it. It's last of is of it's last year for 3 times..

It's a rare car with the FPC engine, I say don't come around unless you have the passion to buy one..

I personally think the 2019/2020 GT350 is the better car, Yet, the early 2015/2016 cars are good value cars,

My car went out of warranty last year.

I know, I was all set to but in March of this year California passed a law banning the sale of warranties purchased out of state. Similar law in Florida. If you go to Flood Ford or the others who sell ESP, you canā€™t select California as an option. If I saw correctly, you canā€™t even buy from Ford directly unless you go to a dealer in state. Its so frustrating!

Hahaha oh no, whereā€™s my mullet. Sorry, wasnā€™t my intention!

What car do you have today? Have you driven your Mom's Honda?

Just an suv :). Honda? Sold my Type R about a year ago. Pretty nice car. (If thatā€™s allowed to be said).

You shouldn't buy a GT350..

You need to check with your Mom on a Mustang 5,0 .

You are earning $60L +/- per year with a good job?

Type R is an interesting car (to me). I usually don't like so many angles but I do like the Type R :)

For the car you're looking at - also consider where it is on the cycle of comsumables. Is it ready for new tires, brakes and fluids? That could be a few thousand right there. If the owner freshened everything up prior to sale, that could speak to the maintenance on the car. If someone didn't say - I'd expect service interval records/log book for a car tracked that frequently.

Well that sucks. But there is a workaround to that. :giggle:

I hate California...and yes i live in California. What if you put in an Arizona address then you "move" a week after you buy it....its not like they mail you the warranty....its all via email/online....when i bought my warranty from flood ford...they didn't ask for a copy of my vehicle registration....how would they know?
