Mustang RTR
Another Mustang RTR has been unleashed onto the streets! For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Mustang RTR Spec 5, it is our top-of-the-line Mustang that is offered by RTR Vehicles. It has almost every RTR component we offer on it, supercharger, suspension, forged wheels, widebody flares and much more. We recently announced the public availability for the Mustang RTR Spec 5 and this is the second Spec 5 build we have completed through our Built by RTR program since launch.

Every Spec 5 Mustang is built from a Mustang GT Performance Package, our base vehicle for this build was a 2022 Mustang GT Performance Package in Oxford White. Below are some images of how it arrived at the RTR Lab.

Under the hood of this Mustang GT, is a 3rd generation Coyote V8 engine that produces 450 horsepower with 410 lb. ft. torque, but not for long. The Mustang RTR Spec 5 will get an additional 300 horsepower added under the hood thanks to a Stage 1 3.0L Whipple Supercharger System. After the Whipple Supercharger was installed, the power output is now 750 horsepower and 615 lb. ft. torque.

Now it’s time for the most labor-intensive part of every Spec 5, the RTR Widebody Fender Flares! The Mustang is put on jack stands and all of the parts of the body that aren’t being worked on are covered up and taped off. The widebody fender flares were test fitted to the body and then traced for cutting later on in the build process.

The front fenders and rear quarters are then cut to allow adequate wheel travel for the new forged wheels. The RTR Aero 7 Forged Wheels are 20x9.5 -10 up front and 20x11 -16 in the rear. A steel filler plate is then welded into place only for the rear quarters. The filler plate fills the void where the rear quarter metal was removed to keep excess debris out. An undercoating is then applied to prevent corrosion.

Now that the chassis has been modified for the wide-body fender flares, holes need to be drilled into the fender flares and body of the Mustang. Holes are drilled into the flares and then Cleco pins are used to hold the flares in place.

The Mustang moves over to the lift to prepare the installation of the RTR Tactical Suspension, exhaust and exterior components. Before installation began, the body was scanned with a device that reads the paint so we can get the perfect color for the fender flares. The Recaro seats were also removed to have the RTR Leather installed.

The front bumper is removed to install the RTR Upper Grille w/ LEDS, Lower Grille, Bumper Vents and Chin Splitter. The rest of the exterior components we also installed at this time.

Moving right along, the RTR Tactical Performance suspension was installed next. For this build, the customer opted for the RTR Tactical Performance Coilover Suspension. These coilovers offer 30-clicks of simultaneous adjustability and feature custom RTR valving and spring rates specifically for RTR Mustangs. These coilovers paired with our adjustable front and rear sway bars allow the customer to finely tune his suspension that best suits his driving style.

As if the Performance Package 6-piston Brembo brakes weren’t enough stopping power, the customer chose to have a GT350 brake system installed. We installed the front 6-piston calipers, with 15.5-inch cross-drilled rotors up front and the rear received 4-piston calipers with 14.9-inch cross-drilled rotors. A pair of GT350 half shafts were also installed.

Our RTR Axle-back Exhaust system was installed along with a resonator delete x-pipe. These will be available on the website soon! The exhaust features a muffler designed specifically for RTR to give the Mustang an aggressive sound. The entire axle-back system features a black finish with black exhaust tips that have the RTR logo laser engraved on them.

We’re almost to the finish line! Once the widebody fender flares got back from paint, they were installed along with the exterior RTR badges. The RTR graphics were installed on the hood and along the entire driver / passenger side of the Mustang. On the inside, the recently released RTR Performance Shift Knob replaced the OEM shift ball.

The last touch was the placement of the interior dash plaque signed by Vaughn Gittin Jr. This Mustang RTR Spec 5 is #15 and is owned by Connor McGovern. Check out his social channel HERE.

We don't sell any Bronze wheels at this time. These were powder coated for this specific build.

Awesome ride, and cool to see the process- thanks for sharing.

I'm curious as to how well Connor fits in that thing- he looks like a big dude. :muscle:
