Concerns about stripes

I've always thought that the Magnetic with either matte or glossy black stripes look SUPER sharp. Today my wife saw my dad's 5th gen black GT with silver/white stripes and said I should get stripes. My concern with stripes is that, over time, don't they chip and peel away?

I plan on washing mine once a week or once ever two weeks at most. What special care needs to be taken to make the stripes not get boogered up when washing/waxing it?

What do places charge to add stripes ball park?

Basically when it comes to stripes, you just have to make sure they use the right materials. Most places that do vinyl work use vehicle exterior vinyl. The industry standard is either 3M 1080 vinyl or Avery 900. That is the vinyl that they used to completely wrap vehicles. Very durable.

You DO NOT wax over vinyl. Basically just use any type of cleaning wipes or quick detailer on them to clean them off if something gets on them. Washing has no effects on the stripes and actually cleans them pretty well.

I'm guessing it's the lighting in the first pic but the outer lining must be a matte finish because it looks silver in the garage light.

The heat extractors being black really adds to your car. Beautiful!

Yeah the lighting in the first picture is in the garage. The pinstripe on the outer edge of either stripe is matte black and regular stripes or gloss black. I did the matte black to match the other vinyl I have on my deck lid and windows.

I have the hood pinstripes on my car, bought from AM, has been on the car for more than 1.5 years. No sign of wear at all.

Just got some 3M gloss black stripes installed by a shop. The guy told me it is okay to wax the stripes as it actually helps preserve the color more. And yeah they can chip away from rocks, etc, but if they were installed correctly with industry standard material, you should be fine.

You can wax stripes. It's actually a good idea to do it because waxes tend to have various protectants in them that will alleviate some of the sun's rays as well as make it easier to remove things like sap or bird shit. I've always kept mine coated with sealant/wax and they still look perfect (outside of a rock chip in the front), they clean really easily, and even in the winter ice couldn't stick to them at all.

But you must avoid waxes that have any type of solvents or things billed as "cleaner waxes" because those will actually damage the vinyl's clear coat. Also, people with matte stripes tend not to like to wax because it makes them look a little funny (almost...splotchy? like shiny spots/matte spots mixed together). Also, don't wax (or clean for that matter) over the edges or you'll get build-up.

Depending on the color difference, you will notice rock hits etc. in the vinyl. Most of them will occur on the small sections (front where the license plate goes on the OEM front and the nose). Not much you can do about them.

I just hit one year since having mine installed by Big Worm. I have no garage so my car sits outside 24/7, but with nothing but washing and Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer to clean them, they still look great. The quick detailer was actually the only product Big Worm said to use, nothing else.

(Ignore the intercooler, I know it needs a repaint)

what brand/type of wax do you use for your stripes?

I've been using Adam's stuff for a while now. H20 guard & gloss and a coat of buttery wax. Have to be careful with the wax because it can build a bit in the edges, but I actually did it on purpose before the winter since it's a daily driver for me and we frequently get some snow and ice in the mornings to make sure no water got in there. Don't notice it unless you get close and I cleaned it up with a micro+detail spray.
