I just noticed this Ford Recalls (published today) - Mustangs affected by the powertrain control module (PCM). :

This is primarily for US cars, and prior to your build date, however although unlikely may have some relevance on your situation.

"Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2019-2020 Ford Mustang models over an issue with the powertrain control module (PCM).

The defect: in affected vehicles, the powertrain control module may broadcast an unintended faulted signal to the modules controlling the reverse camera, reverse light, and driver assist features, which may disable all of these functions.

The hazards: a rearview camera or reverse light that is disabled reduces the driver’s rear view, increasing the risk of a crash. Disabled driver assist features (traction control, forward collision warning, blind spot warning, cross traffic indicator) may also increase the risk of a crash.

Components: powertrain control module.

Affected vehicles: select 2019-2020 Ford Mustang models produced at the Flat Rock Assembly plant between January 18th, 2018 and December 16th, 2020.

Number of vehicles affected: 25,032

The fix: dealers will update the PCM software, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on June 13th, 2022. The Ford reference number for this recall is 22S37.

The PCM was replaced last week, I almost certain that would have fixed it.
3 software updates done.
Maybe I got another faulty PCM.?

Rang Miedecke Ford at Port Macquarie, no information on problems with their race car.
They did offer to look at my car, if I had delivered to them by Tilt Tray.
Miedecke suggested trying Ford Technical Services...... around in circles again.

PCM = Premature Collison Mistake?
PCM = Premature Collison Module?

GREAT NEWS - my Mustang is back home...!!!!!
2 Months of not being able to drive it and nearly 6 weeks at the dealership.
Local Service Centre gave up with the Ford Engineers and started getting serious themselves.
Found the Wiring Harness had rubbed through on the steering column, 2 wires shorting to ground intermittently.
Harness had not been wrapped from the factory.
It only took 4,000km and 5 months to rub through the insulation on the wires.

@Dingo that's great Deno, must feel pretty good eh?

Amazed that the harness come to be rubbing on the column to the extent it rubbed through that much insulation? Did you get a pic by any chance?

Still strange that it only happened when warm but who cares...🤷‍♂️

Great news, cruel how such a minor failure can create such a major problem !

At least the Drama is behind you now, and you can finally start enjoying the drive with confidence of getting out of the driveway, around corners and beyond !

Won't be enjoying any "spirited" driving today 😢
Recall last night at 11pm, still heading home now, then sleep.

No pics, apparently you can't see it from above.
Local guys can't release photos until cleared by Ford Engineers.
As soon as I have them I will put up a post.
Temporary Repair done, heat shrink and cloth tape.
New Harness will need to be ordered and fitted.

Oh well, at least the cause is definitely identified, and the end is in sight.

I wonder if this is a Design Fault, or a Batch or One-Off Manufacturing Fault ?

Presumably it is not that common, otherwise it would have been checked earlier.

Either way, I think I would be asking them to wrap a shield over the offending wiring area with some Milk Bottle Plastic, to prevent a recurrence.

70km trip late this afternoon, freeway run, all good except 1 occurence of Engine Light after a 2nd gear run up to 7000RPM and quick shift to 3rd, then an engine cough.
Didn't happen again tried several times up and back.
Could have been just clearing it's throat after so many round town runs and Limp Mode running.
