Right, pictures as promised. I’m not sure how many I can attach to a single post so work with me on this, if it takes a few posts to get all the pictures up I’ll put a few posts up.
As you can see there’s extra foam blocks and extra felt covering one of the edges. These weren’t present on my first ones and don’t appear to be present on the images put up a few posts above, so to me, it’s clear that the parts have been changed and Ford won’t pay to make a change unless they need to. The felt needed sticking back down already so there’s a good chance that’ll just drop off and cause the same damage The top/outer A surfaces haven’t changed, so when fitted you shouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
Part number of my new caps
Right Hand: FR3B - 7631002 - CEW
Left Hand: FR3B - 7631003 - CEW
NOTE: base part number is the difference, which identifies the two parts from being LH and RH. “CE*” suffix says this is at least the 5th revision of these parts that have been formally released within Ford (this WILL span across all prototype and production, but also note that properly prototype parts may not have even had an official part number change as they go through lots of local revisions until they get to something they’re happy to formally release onto the prototypes or into production)
To me, that says they’ve had a few stabs at getting the design of these right even before the Mustang originally launched in 2015.
