This past weekend I was able to sneak back down to Florida with the 2020 GT500. I reset my record with a 9.80@141, I also have the fastest MPH with a 144.8. We are working with a few prototype parts trying to make this pig dig deeper into the 9s. The transmission is fighting us. Once we can flash the trans, This platform is going to fly. Stay Tuned!

It always amazes me how fast people can get things done with these cars. It's been 20 days into 2020...

i beieve they used kooks full gt350 system, headers mid, catback ect. so in addition to hp gains, a significnt weight savings as well. thats the only reason im contemplating headers and cat back, shave off another 20-40lbs

I neveral realized that the stock manifolds weighed that much. That's insane.

I meant in total, manifold, x pipe/resonators and catback. I think my manifold to catback shaved about 15lbs
That makes more sense.

Anyone making gt500 specific headers? Do gt350s fit without issue? Seems i recall Gt350 headers can/would crack because of flat-plane harmonics? Is there a need for specific GT500 headers (assume so) and what is potential gain from these? Stock manifolds seem to be somewhat nice.

thanks

only the one car ( EM's iconic silver) has tried thus far.. they went wild from the start so its hard to know what provided what gains.
i can only speak for me and the orange car, and I can tell you, you dont need a lot of that to get great power ( details coming soon)

obviously, it improves efficiency ect, but until a full mod list/build specs are released, its speculation.

im more interested in seeing the car survive realworld usage at that level. Rumor on SVTP is that Lunds white car roasted the clutches already just on the dyno, and the silver one here will as soon as the car attempts a non drag run ( prevailing theory is that the tcm/ecu is limiting power application just that much in drag mode- on the street, my car feels and dragy shows, every bit as fast as 810hp should feel)

Headers and catless or hi-flow cats on a GT mustang average around 50 rwhp. They were a huge improvement on my Whipple cars. I will say the majority of the weight saved is in the stock cats, so if you are keeping them, don't expect any real weight savings. This car already does not have a mid muffler. swapping out the cast X pipe for a cut and clamp replacement might save a few pounds.

Yeah i would be looking for that sweet spot that is at the DCT limits, fast enough to be fast, but not fast enough to burn up the tranny. ONLY positive side of not having my car yet is letting everyone else figure out this cars limit and that appears to be the DCT. I am hoping some DCT tuning turns this car into an easy and reliable 9 second car without extravagant or internal mods.

im 99% dct limit has been found, they just dont want to claim the "1st" on that title lol

You have to remember, none of these drag passes have been in decent air. FL and SC are horrible. I have no doubt a hero pass will hit 10.4 at 135+ as soon as the tracks open, and the cars that are doing 140 now, will add 5mph.

DCT--ehhh... id be ok with allowing 10-15% more power in 1st and 2nd. that would place all the 800hp cars safely in 9s and still allow for a formidable roll race car, with i think safe and longterm dct life.
