Yes, the stripes are coated too. I had the car professionally done, and he didn't miss anything!Looks sweet - great job. I assume you coated the stripes too?
When I briefly had my hood stripes on to test out - I waxed the hood with BlackFire and it looked awesome- it fixed many of the mistakes I made on the gloss black stripes.
No, the coating is a semi-permanent liquid SiO2 (Silicon Dioxide) or TiO2 (titanium dioxid). It hardens and forms a candied shell protecting the paint from bird drops, pollen, sap, hard water spots, industrial fallout. But the real benefit is it's hydrophobic qualities, which makes maintenance washes easy... Wash and blow dry....Does the ceramic coating protect the car from rock chips?
Thanks for the reply - really informativeNo, the coating is a semi-permanent liquid SiO2 (Silicon Dioxide) or TiO2 (titanium dioxid). The downside is you have to make sure when you take your car in for service you MUST tell them "Do Not Wash" and I put signs on my windows. Special formulated soaps and gentle washes form there on. Secondly, the only way to remove the coating is by abrading the paint. (i.e. polishing or compounding).
Depending on the quality, grade and concentrate of SiO2/TiO2, longevity can last anywhere from two years to seven years.
For ultimate rock chip PPF should be installed. I have a full frontal of SunTek Ultra on my stangs…
To the OP, looks amazing! 14 Hours is about right... What folks don't realize is the amount of preparation that goes into before installing the coating... I educate my customers on the process as to why it takes so long.
Congrats.
Paul...does your shop use infrared lighting to cure ?? I got my BULLITT..as is from Flat Rock.. no wash, no prep of any kind...all plastic and stickers still in place.... 1st question. how many guys work on these cars ? I used Car Pro Products... CQuartz TiO2. ... starting with Reset wash, doing all the steps with 2 coats of Ceramic...then theReload the next day! Wheels in and out. It was a total of 24hrs over 3 days.. no infrared lighting to cure! ... it is indeed glass!!
