I have very mixed feelings about CS, I respect the racer, car builder and entrepreneur but not the man character , did you knew that he got into a lawsuit with his own fan club ?… Seriously?

I've been reading this book lately - it's a new one and is written in a way that paints the picture using quotes from lots of the guys who were part of Shelby American. I've read just about everything I can find on Shelby, and I'm finding this to be one of the best.

Happy birthday to a legend and thanks for my GT350! I am glad he got to see the S197 GT500 before he passed. What a stunning, and to be honest, groundbreaking car.

If someone was using my name, not paying for it, and doing something to make money or sully my name, I'd damn sure sue them.

So is Luc correct, or is Carroll a respectable human amongst us?

Carroll owned a GT350, Luc did not…………. Hmmmmmm?

Bias?

You are showing a photo of what looks like a real GT359R…. If it is yours…impressive,
Why do you dislike about the legend behind the man who made that car you boost about?

Was my replica race car
I have always loved Shelby early cars, mostly the cobra, daytona coupe and 65/66
Was fascinated by the Le Man race against Ferrari
Was a Shelby club members for many years and the lawsuit and attitude was very disappointing

I'm all about the guy's accomplishments, from his race wins to his wide-reaching automotive endeavors that ultimately resulted in Ford building the Mule. Also, his ability to bring the right people and suppliers together to produce the original Cobra, which many, many years down the road brought me to the point where I was able to build my own replica (Factory Five).

My homage to the man and his memory.

Happy 100th if he was still around. Love the cars and what he accomplished. And if anybody wants the correct context, here you go. The key thing to take away from it was it was “for profit” fan club. IE they were using he and what he built for there financial benefit. Damn straight he should of sued them.

I was recently involved in a documentary about Carroll. If you saw what I saw (it will come out) you will change your mind. The suit your talking about was a club that was loaned special documents with the cavoite that they would be returned when requested. The club refused to return them. They were too big at that time to respond to the man himself. The result of the suit was the documents were returned. Carroll was not a perfect man. He tried many things and sometimes he failed, sometimes as we are all aware he was very successful. What you never saw him do was give up. In the end he only cared about 1 thing, his charity to the children.

We all leave this world at some point. We all make mistakes, some more then others. Most of us would rather be judged on the things we did right and forgiven for out trespasses.
