Carpeted Floor Mats Question

Are the factory floor mats in our cars washable, and what is the best way? Can you put them in the washing machine? I vacuum a lot but the black shows all the dirt!

I'm not sure if they're washable but I tend to use a Bissell wet steam vac that helps get the crud out.
