I too would not have ordered the CF dash, but the car came with it and now I love it. It adds some polish to a somewhat Ford plastic interior. In fact I have added CF trim for the door window switched, the overhead dome light console, the center stack and the console coin tray. IMHO and taste, it has elevated the interior finish. Moot for those strictly focused on track use.

Good on you man, I’ll be doing a little at a time.
Is that the real deal or the faux CF?

Real CF. The door window switch trim was priciest as it was direct replacement to the OEM trim. The center stack trim I have yet to photo, and it is not genuine CF, but matches very well. There are a lot of faux CF trim kits out there, but where it goes overboard is a matter of taste.

Now I thought just the opposite.

I ordered my car from my local dealer, and as we went thru the option list, he asked if I wanted the CF dash trim, I said no.

He asked why, I said “because that’s half the price of the Watson roll bar I want to do” and he just smiled

only options I did were handling package, car cover, and black painted roof. No stripes.

Where did you get the CF items from?.

Most of the items are offered on American Muscle, CJ Pony and eBay. The CF replacement for the OEM window switch trim is made by TruFiber. They are no longer offered on American Muscle. However they are offered on eBay now - pricey but true CF and swaps out for the OEM trim.

The install video:

Also consider the CF covers that overlay the existing OEM trim. An associate used these on his California Special and you would be hard pressed to tell the difference, especially at the cost differential.

For $25, it's really hard to beat CF vinyl applied correctly. Is real CF better? Of course.

If I told you it was real, would you believe me?

The question is... how much weight does it save?

Exactly! Especially the fake vinyl applied on top, is what I wanna know.

Not everyone is focused on track only use and weight savings. Some appreciate the aesthetics of the car, and may wish to improve it.

The question is, can you tolerate values that do not align to your own?

I got the ebay Overlay versión, but it’s not the vinyl wrap type but the heavier CF stick on pieces. The issue is that it doesn’t cover everything like the vinyl wraps and the directions of the weave patterns are random and not uniform to the different parts.

I like it overall but hate that darn seam right on the dashboard, which is made worse by the CF weave changing direction. It’s likely because the sheets they used are too small to cover the entire dash in one cut And the squeezed in the other peice on to the same sheet rather using another one to keep it uniform.

I also used a heat gun to help contour it to some of the curves and corners of the dash.

But it was a nice gift and for about $200 for the kit, I thinks it pretty nice.

I have a version of that kit and the gaps drive me nuts. the Weave is spot on as it's a single piece for the performance packs, but I can't get past the gaps. I had 2 waves / bubbles by the glove box that have worked their way out over the past few weeks.... but I ended up just ordering one of the overlay kits, so I'll be ripping this one off soon. I would have liked the OEM or the other ones that actually replace the dash pieces, but I've seen recent reviews of fitment issues.

I hear that , the heat gun helps a lot with the bubbles, and the issue is that the CF can be scratched easily if you use anything abrasive on it.

I actually don’t have the regular black dashboard but a more silver/grayish patterned one.

The other issue was on the driver side which I forgot to add a pic. The CF trim overlay for the windows and door locks was made for the fast backs without the seat memory buttons. I had to cut the them to make the cutouts large enough to fit the seat memory buttons, as well as rear window button that’s on my convertible.
