So i am on my second sai li fuel system (first one had a pump blow) and with my power level 850hp, gen 2 whipple, e85, i believe i may be over working the system as anytime im in WOT full boost (6k or so) my car cuts timing from 23 degrees to 3 degrees, the fuel pressure regulator seems to bounce around a bit and i notice my short term fuel trims do crazy things 15-20% fuel instead of 3-5% the car obviously loses power and my knock sensor reads almost +5.00 then i let out car drives normal, no cel nothing. We checked the systems wiring and grounds and they all appear good. my tuner swears im out of fuel for what im running and a pumps cutting out up top. So instead of paying another 1000$ for a fuel system id rather upgrade the pumps. Has anyone upgraded their own sai li setup and if so what pumps did you end up running? right now im running the gt500 pumps that came with the system in the modified hat. Anyone know of pumps that would drop in and provide more fuel? ive been at this for 2 months now, but i am no expert when it comes to this stuff. Any responses/help will be greatly appreciated

Bump. I’m in the same boat and just one of the pumps go out on me. I want to know if I can replace the pumps to something bigger or if I have to replace with what the kit came with. If the later, would anyone know what pump to replace it with?

Yes you can exchange the pumps. the best route would be a pair dw 400’s , here you go

You can also send your Sai Li pump assembly directly to Sai Li tuning, and they will upgrade the pumps to the DW 400's if you don't want to mess around with it.

Put 2 walbro 465’s in my gt350 hat. I was running out of fuel with the stock pumps but have zero problems now.

How are you getting the siphon to pull fuel from the passenger side?

I put dw400’s in my sai li hat because fuel pressure was dropping at 720ish whp. The DW400’s have the Venturi ports like the factory pumps so everything works as factory.

I also drilled out the feed passage in the hat to .260“ because from the factory the orifice is only around .190”. Replace the factory plastic tee/bypass valve in the bucket with a brass tee also because once again the orifices in the factory tee are .190”

the short answer to that is that it just works. Truth be told I’m not %100 sure why it it works, but I believe that siphoning is a function that takes place solely on the suction side of the pump and has to do with the seal created by the two halves of the hat meting together and the amount of suction created by the pumps in addition to the proximity of the siphon tube location. It’s also my understanding the the little Venturi tubes at the top of the pump serve to keep the basket full of fuel and have little or nothing to do with siphoning.
I also modified the top of the hat with a -8 bulk head for the feed and use the factory connection and fuel lines for the return.
