Can you tell the different between 87 and 93 octane?

Yep it make no sense to us "car people"

But Ford had to make the EcoBoost motors run ok on 87 because that's all most people will ever use. Think of all those Fusions, Escapes, Edge, Explorers, F150s with turbo motors. The majority are small turbo nowadays. 95% of people are not car people and only use 87. Not realizing they're losing power and mpg in the process.

The coyote is actually very forgiving when running 87. Compared to a turbo motor.

I would support a national higher octane for everyone as long as they don't hose everyone on the price.
Makes you wonder how many sales would Ford lose if they “required” 91 on the GT?

Yeah, it's a shame they only take them out for parades. They should be used for racing :giggle:
Like those cool planes that just sit around on them big boats that float around the ocean and don't do anything!

I've seen enough posts on here regarding how the GT was only considered because of 87 to assume it's a decent amount. As has been pointed out, a lot of people don't realize just exactly what makes "premium" different. They just read premium and ask themselves why should they buy the silver spoon when the aluminum spoon gets the job done.

What Ford should do is post power made with 87, but they always want just the best numbers. And many times they even lie about them, like weights, where they leave out fuel, fluids, and battery, like if you could use the car that way. Motorcycles do that. Frustrating, to say the least.

My 2020 PP1 car came with 87 octane, now granted the car only had 11 miles on here, 4 of which was my test drive. The car felt lethargic and held back. Within 2 days I had the car at empty started my fuel regimen which is 2 gallons of 100 VP Street blaze from the pump, 2 gallons of E85 (we get the good stuff here in Cali, usually in the E87+ range) and the rest E10 91 octane. Gets me to just under 94 octane at a E20 ethanol content. Within a 1/4 of a tank the car ran so much better, it revved more happily and definitely was making more power. Now if you are at high altitude you can get away with 87 octane no issues, but these cars need at least 91 octane to get the potential out of them.
