Yes you can but you will need a bezel from a 15-17 , it mounts different than the 18 up. You will also need a usb hub and a conversion harness.

Been asking for a week regarding APIM programming and have not got an answer. Once the upgrade is complete what lines need to be updated via forscan so it functions properly? Can't find answer anywhere.. Even PM a few people with no response and posted in the original post.

Here is a little "cheat sheet" I put together from various posts from different members on this forum, and probably others,....all credit for the info goes to them.... when I did the conversion on my '17 V6. These should help you get started depending on the options, etc., that you have on your GT.

Drive Mode Toggle:
IPC:
720-06-01: xxxx-xxxx-x8 (just change the 10th digit to an 8. Should work on all models)

ABS:
760-02-02: xxxx-1xxxx

Hazard Toggle:
BCM:
726-29-02: xxxx-xxx0-xx

Park Assist:
APIM:
7D0-01-01 xAxx-xxxx-xx = ON // x2xx-xxxx-xx = OFF

HD Radio:
ACM
727-01-01: x0xx-xxxx-xx = ON // x8xx-xxxx-xx = OFF

ACM AMP: (Premiums have external amp. This will cause low audio if turned off on a base car)
ACM
727-01-01: xx5x-xxxx-xx = ON // xx0x-xxxx-xx = OFF

Okay, here is what you need to change for a Sync 3 upgrade from base, including some optional stuff.

This is assuming you are keeping the Base ACM.

ACM:

727-01-01 Factory: D800 2800 00, after Sync 3 Swap: 9800 3800 00

BCM:

Fix hazard toggle operation:
BCM 726-29-02 xxxx xxx0

GT350 Only:

Enable exhaust mode toggle on bezel:
IPC 720 06-01 xxxx xxxx xE

Non GT350:

Enable drive mode toggle (part 1)
ABS 760-02-02 xxxx 7x (GT Performance Pack)
ABS 760-02-02 xxxx 3x (GT without Performance Pack)
ABS 760-02-02 xxxx 1x (EcoBoost All, V6)

Enable drive mode toggle (part 2)
IPC 720-06-01 xxxx xxxx x8

OPTIONAL STUFF
APIM:

GT Splash at start:
7D0-02-01 xxxx xDxx xx

Different colors for different menus:
7D0-03-01 xxxx x0x2 xx
(I did this so the audio screen would show up in red instead of blue to better match the base gauges.)

You could also do the GT theme in combo with the GT splash:
7D0-03-01 xxxx x4x0 xx
(I tried the GT theme, didn't really care for it. I'm running the regular theme set to night all the time so the background is black rather than white.)

JJones said: ↑

does anyone know if you can change the background to the shelby gt350 intro?:ford:

APIM

07D0-02-01 xxxx x7xx xxxx (GT350 Snake, Gray)
07D0-02-01 xxxx x9xx xxxx (GT350 Snake, Red)

GT500 (Mustang EVO) Splash Startup and Shutdown:.....HAVE THIS NOW

7D0-02-01= xxxx 10xx xxxx
7D0-03-01= xxxx x0xx xxxx

The APIM should have all of the data from a Premium Mustang the same year as yours written to it. I have never been able to use APIMs from different vehicles in a Mustang without changing all of the data.
The only BCM data that should be changed is for the toggle switch and that's only one digit

Here's the FCIM you need to keep codes from popping up:
7A7-01-01 Xxxx xxxx xxxx 0=Gas Engine
7A7-01-01 xXxx xxxx xxxx 0=North America
7A7-01-01 xxXx xxxx xxxx A=Center stack display This removes common DTCs related to solar sensors & RH HVAC Door Damper position (Which don't exist in base cars)
7A7-01-01 xxxx Xxxx xxxx 0=No Climate Controlled Seats
7A7-01-01 xxxx xXxx xxxx 0=No Autostart

7A7-01-02 xxxX xxxx xxxx 0=No Heated Steering Wheel
7A7-01-02 xxxx xxXx xxxx 0=No Heated Mirror

7A7-01-03 Xxxx xxxx xxxx 0=No Front Left Side Discharge Sensor
7A7-01-03 xXxx xxxx xxxx 0=No Front Right Side Discharge Sensor
7A7-01-03 xxxx XXxx xxxx These are related to the heated seat temperature Hi, Med, Lo Settings and should be left as is
7A7-01-03 xXxx xxXX xxxx These are related to the heated seat temperature Hi, Med, Lo Settings and should be left as is
7A7-01-03 xxxx xxxx XXxx These are related to the heated seat temperature Hi, Med, Lo Settings and should be left as is

7A7-01-04 xx No change needed

7A7-02-01 XXXX XXXX XX This is your VIN number, or should be. If you bought a new bezel it will be gibberish. Leave it alone.
7A7-02-02 XXXX XXXX XX
7A7-02-03 XXXX XXXX XX
7A7-02-04 XXXX XXXX XX

It seems to work and pickup the Mustang's location pretty good.. just completely backwards while moving. If I could somehow flip the icon it would be perfect.. lol..

It also appears to read the opposite direction on the center gauge cluster. If I am heading north (N) it shows south(S) as the heading.

I have read some other forums (Fusion and F150) where the GPSM module is left connected as it is need for compass. They looks to just put the GPS antenna next to it or mounted on top of it, but it is retained.

My changes are:

7D0-01-01 0xxx xxxx xxxx (removesSirius from audio sources)
7D0-01-02 xxxx xxxx x2xx (disables TravelLink)
7D0-02-01 xxxx x7xx xxxx (GT350 boot screen)
7D0-04-01 xxxx xxxx 06xx (Bluetooth pairing name = Ford Mustang)
7D0-07-03 xxxx xxxE xxxx (tire circumference)

Nav vs. Non-Nav

7D0-01-02 x0xx xxxx x0xx - Non-Nav
7D0-01-02 x2xx xxxx xAxx - Nav

Shaker vs. Shaker Pro

7D0-01-01 xxxx xxx2 xxxx - Shaker
7D0-01-01 xxxx xxx3 xxxx - Shaker Pro

As far as the APIM is concerned, 2 vs 3 in this position is the difference between HD Radio being available or not.

RPA vs. Non-RPA......DONE
(Reverse Park Assist aka Reverse Sensing System RSS)

7D0-01-01 xAxx xxxx xxxx - RPA
7D0-01-01 x2xx xxxx xxxx - Non-RPA

7D0-04-02 xxx1 xx - RPA
7D0-04-02 xxx0 xx - Non-RPA

Manual vs. Auto Trans......DONE

7D0-01-02 xx9x xxxx xxxx - Manual Master Race
7D0-01-02 xx8x xxxx xxxx - Autotragic

Tire Size

7D0-07-03 xxxx xxXX xxxx

Values I found here included 73, 6F, 6D, 68. According to the F150 spreadsheet, this relates to the tire circumference. It's in an area that has other settings for the backup camera, not sure if it affects the Reverse Sensing System.

I could take the time to probably decode what the value means exactly, but I'd bet on it not being super important. But if you'd like to figure it out, this thread where I decoded the method Ford uses to program tire size in the BCM might get you thinking in the right direction.

Options I found no differences for

Enhanced Security Package, Recaros, Adaptive Cruise, Vert vs. Coupe, EB vs. GT vs. GT350***

***I do not have many files for EB/GT350 cars, and virtually all of the files I looked at were coupes. That said, I do have a couple EB/Vert/GT350, and found no real differences aside from the already-known GT350 startup animations.

'm happy to report that the ACM 727-01-01 Xxxx xxxx setting was the root of the problem for my phone issues. This setting was telling the ACM that a Gen 1 APIM was present, but when I changed the D to a 9 (from the F150 AsBuilt spreadsheet), this changes it to Gen 2, and thus all phone functionality is working properly now. Spart found this also in his trials, so thanks to him for posting his info also.

Dans post is full of good info but for Mustang ACM you only need to change 727-01-01 to xx5x xxxx xx to turn on line level. z06psi you should leave all of that the same, you already have a Premium car. The other options don’t work with Mustang ACM because it is NOT the source for center channel or subwoofer output. The DSP synthesizes those channels.
727-01-02 x0xx xxxx xx should set EQ to default flat.

As suggested by a forum member, I installed the GPS antenna on top of aluminum foil (4"x3"). Still having the same issue. Entering diagnostic mode and testing the satellite location and signal seems to fix the issue until I restart the car and drive in reverse. At this point I believe that the APIM has issues. The strange thing is that I had the same APIM on my '16 V6 auto, and never had any GPS issues (I relocated the pins on the APIM connector during the Sync 3 swap). I trade that car for a '17 V6 manual, but installed the APIM with a plug&play harness. Not sure if that has anything to do.
Satellite radio antenna is next to GPS antenna. No sure if that affects the GPS signal reception.

You actually need to program the APIM based on your transmission (AT or MT)...can't remember the bit on the as-built but this definitely will fix your issue.

7D0-01-01 x22x 05x2 20xx
7D0-01-02 029x 060x x2xx
7D0-02-01 5553 x6x2 xxxx
7D0-02-02 xxxx xxxx xxxx
7D0-02-03 xxxx
7D0-03-01 xxxx xXxx xxxx 0= Ford (Changes highlighted menu choice to different colors (Audio, Climate, Phone, Nav, Apps, Settings) from the standard blue) 1= Ford Timeless (Normal Mustang)

Leave everything else as is

Also, have a look at this video by Hextall explaining the programming procedure with Forscan and any DTC's that may pop up:

I swapped a SYNC 3 unit into my '15, that came with the SYNC 2 system.
That was a while ago though, and all I did was swap out the APIM unit and the USB connector in the center console, I never changed anything in ForScan. Is this something I forgot? Everything seems to be working fine.

looking through this thread I see a lot of great info, and some misinformation. I got my Sync 3 system ou too a wrecked 2017 GT Premium, same car I have in a 2015. I dropped the APM and screen in, and NO PROGRAMMING WAS REQUIRED. while I am proficient with Forscan, getting an APIM with a similar build to my car was the smart way to go. You need a screen, APIM, USB Hub and cable. thats all I needed.

I upgraded my sync 2 to sync 3 2017 (Ecoboost) and added a new USB hub to get carplay working. 30m work, easy !

Just upgraded to SYNC 3.4 yesterday on my 2015 via Cyanlabs.net (as the FORD website does not accept my VIN supposingly running SYNC 2 :) )

Did you install a new screen or keep the original sync 2 screen and just swap Apims?
