Can you put a 15-17 GT muffler on a 2020 GT?

So my wife bought a 2020 Mustang GT but says the stock exhaust is too loud. I still have the stock mufflers from my old 2016 GT somewhere in the garage and wanted to know if they will fit the 2020. I know the 2016 GT was super quiet, I would like to keep the quad tips though.

they look pretty similar pictures, i would assume any muffler shop can cut off the quad tips and put them on the 16's. another option could be some inline resonators. might not give enough decrease in volume though.

If it's got active exhaust, put it in quiet mode. But yes, that do fit and it'll look really stupid with one tip.

Yeah they look similar, hopefully a muffler shop can make it work. First I’m adding a sound deadening mat and removing the sound tube.

Hangers/etc., are the same, but like someone pointed out the single tips will look janky.

The thing is, I can't imagine a stock '16 exhaust is going to be substantially quieter than a stock '20 exhaust. They're both complying with maximum sound levels allowed from a stock car.

Maybe a Camry?

I agree but it’s easier to fix this than get a new wife
Just debuted my new loud AF exhaust to the wife. She loves it! She said now it sound like a thoroughbred haha.

@Carwatcher is her complaint the volume while she's driving or something else?

The 15-17 exhaust will fit but it will look odd where the 18+ rear valence is designed for quad tips. Grab an EcoBoost lower rear valence and you should be set to go with the 15-17 exhaust.

Cold start on the stock 18 up is a little startling for stock exhaust. I could not believe it myself at the dealer the first time.

I added 2 chamber super 44’s axle back and no way want it any louder. Even a resonator replacement (h or x) would render it too loud imo.

So I removed the sound tube and it made no difference at all, just waiting on the sound deading mat to hopefully work before changing the exhaust.

Any recommendations on quad tips for the 16 GT stock exhaust?
