Are these the 2018 sideskirts? They're a different part number from the 15-17 Mustangs, which according to AM, wont fit on 15-17 Mustangs.

That's what I thought. I figured 15-18 side skirts are all the same. AM is out of stock of 15-17 RTR sideskirts, so I'm wondering if I should just order the 18's.

I actually opened the box and got a 15-17 skirts and they fit perfect.

I guess I had my car saved on the website as 17 and they automatically sent it to me.

So I guess the 18 even the Shelby is different.

Here is a night time picture. Sorry but the car is on jack stands and can't take it out.

I am going to ask my buddy to take a picture of his skirts that he got for his 18 and see what the difference is.

Also don't rely on the double sided tape to hold the front portion of it . After couple of washes and getting in and out of the car with your legs hitting the side skirt it will sag. So what I did i drilled 12 holes right through the rtr skirt and into the OEM skirt and installed push pins .that will prevent it from sagging. Happened to my 16 GT.

The only issue i see here is when jacking up the car, the jack will contact the inner rtr skirt and over time it will deform it and possibly deform the OEM skirt also becuae they are connected with each other.

So,

Tommorow I am going to cut the rtr skirt from top to bottom and I will install only the outter skirt. I already have 12 drilled holes and I will apply double sided tape to make sure it doesn't move around at all.

Looks good, man! Did you order from AM? I've been trying to get a hold of 15-17 RTR sideskirts for a few weeks now.

I did order from am. I bought the 18 + knowing that it would fit but when I opened the box the instructions were 15-17 so I guess I got a 15-17 skirt some how .

But I am going to cut rtr skirts because the inner piece is useless anyways .

Thanks, much appreciated! I'm just going to pull the trigger on the 18's. Worst comes to worst, I'll sell them locally.

Ok so the difference between the 18+ are the tabs. They are bigger than the 15-17 so if you are installing the 18+ on a 15-17 it will not fit in to the exciting sqaure openings on the factory 15-17 holes as they are smaller . Everything else is the same.

Picture of the Square tabs that are bigger wider on the 18+

I went ahead and cut the skirt in half as you can see in the pictures. No need at all for the inner piece that have the square pieces. They are in the way of the jacking points specially if you don't have jacking rails.

Cut

Drilled 12 holes into the piece that I cut and applied double sided tape . Not only it is much much lighter than the complete uncut piece but it fits better as you can adjust it yourself while installing it. It is extremely solid and does not move at all with the 12 push pins.

At the end, no matter what you do, you have to drill holes on the bottom and install push pins to secure it in place because the tape will come off and the skits will sag. Read AM reviews with all the people having the same problem.

I would suggest to keep the 18 and modified it. Not only is better and more secure, you also don't even have to take out the long factory push pins that are holding the OEM skirt.

Installed and underside picture.

Awesome, man! Cant thank you enough! I will take the same approach since AM says the 15-17 skirts are 6-7 weeks out but to be honest with the 18's out, I wouldnt be surprised if the part is discontinued.

I don't think the 15-17 will be gone because the 18+ will not bolt on to 15-17 unless you modified it like i did

The original 15-17 side skirt I had on my 16 gt didn't say or mentioned anything about push pins and no push pins we're included in the kit . I guess they found out about the issue and now they are including it in all of the kits and it does tell you to drill couple of holes in order to install the pins. Couple of holes ain't gonna hold it for long time you need at least 12 holes.

Some people don't like to drill holes on the bottom of the side skirt but you have to understand it is on the bottom and you will never see it.

If you decide to modify it like it did, drill the holes slowly so it doesn't go all the way through and out on the OEM side skirts. Learn that lesson on my 16 gt.

Also when cutting the side skirt, cut towards the inner side of the skirt so you can use the tape it comes with.
