...Carolina's, huh????? We even make fun of our own here.
I have lived all 67 of my years in this crappy state of NC. Wifey as well.
Wifey and I rode a Harley to Wilmington several years ago. It was
late when we got there to the motel.
Walked across the street to an Outback Steak House. The bartender said we
could eat right away if we sat at the bar.

He asked me and my wife a few questions and it was apparent he was
curious about our accent.
So, he asks me; "where are y'all from"?
I replied; "NC. Why?"
He looked at me puzzled and said; "you sure talk funny."
I said ; well, we're from the mountains, up where folk are inbred."
Everyone got to coming by and talking to us just to hear us talk.

Could have been humiliating, but it was done in fun................................:giggle:
Great story @oneheadlite :like:

We’re going to have some winter weather in the Carolina’s this weekend. After living in Montana and Utah I though I’d seen the worst, in regards to ability to handle snow, when I lived in Balt/Wash. market. But, the Carolina’s are in a class all their own. Ran into this guy today at Walmart.

Here in Myrtle Beach just the threat of frozen precipitation causes the entire county to shut down.
Yeah, that's the Carolinas in general, isn't it?
Where an inch of snow leads to most people staying at home,
and people with trucks thinking they're hot stuff
...Up to the moment they go into a ditch because their truck was 2WD with an open diff.

We bought a house in Winston Salem in 2017 and my wife moved down in October. I continued working in Michigan and drove back and forth on the weekends.

One Sunday as I was getting ready to leave to get back to Michigan we had a weather alert come on the TV. It was for a serious and dangerous winter storm with up to 2" of snow. My wife went to the grocery store to pick up groceries for the week and she said that the bread, milk, and toilet paper was basically gone from the shelves.

When I got to Michigan there was an alert. Just a simple winter weather advisory for up to 6" of snow. Plenty of milk, bread, and toilet paper in the stores in Michigan.

When I moved down there in December 2018 I happened to arrive the weekend we had the biggest snow storm in 90 years. I had 18" of snow in the driveway and no snow equipment because I sold it all since I was moving south.

We moved back to Michigan in June 2021 and have been through several snow storms and cold, no big deal for us here.

One thing while living in NC that made me laugh. The weather reporter said it was going to be 'dangerously cold' lower 30's and that we should be sure to have our "toboggan". My thought was why do I need a sled? Then found out that NC calls a stocking cap a "toboggan".
