Thank you to those who answered my question. I will play it safe and not install until I have a tune for it. Thanks again!

8 replies so far... can anyone answer my original question? Can I install the turbo and downpipe without a tune? If it requires additional fuel, what if I stay easy on the go pedal and no wot, will that be okay?

PS - I still have my original tune and can uninstall the Ford Performance tune, not worried about that.
No. It's not ok. You might try it and get away with it, but you might not. No one can know.

Just FYI,
If you look at the Tune+ web site, they state that for high horsepower, your need to add thier Port Injection kit and for mid horsepower, you need to run a minimum of 30% ethanol. No mention of EPA/CARB or being legal in all 50 states.

The stock fuel system limit is E30. And yes, you'd have be certifiable, to make that level of change without a tune to go with.

don't you have to go to a dealer to get the tune removed?
15 - 17 FP tune programs have ability to flash from stock to FP tune at will, 18+ do not and must have dealer return to "as built" calibration.

i was trying to remember where i saw your post about how much they wanted to charge you to go back to stock and how they wanted like an hour of labor. i downloaded the only avaliable AB data for my car (pcm?) and it was like 40kb, which is incredibly small.

It is probably on mustang ecoboost forum since I do not believe I posted anything about it on this forum. My local dealer wants 2 hours labor at 135 per hour so 270 bucks to return to stock calibration. I have not done it yet, but I will call several other semi local dealers to see what they charge to do it first.

It was the mustang tech that quoted the 2 hours since the service writer did not have a clue on cost or even what I was talking about, I know service manager very well so am confident I can get it done for 1 hour labor which I would be willing to pay when I decide to get it done.

I have a cobb AP with all 3 stage tunes in it that I was going to use after return to stock calibration, but I do really like the how FP tune runs and the improved shift strategy that it includes so will keep until my 3/36 is up the end of this year.

My only complaint with the FP tune besides some of the functionality of the program being inop for me is my car hits the speed limiter at 122mph and I cannot change that and no means to change the oil pressure signal from switch to sender to install the HPP center cluster assy.

I have been wondering though that possibly going with the HP MPVI3 I could keep the FP tune and just use their VCM editor to increase the speed limiter and toggle the oil pressure from switch to sender. I will call to discuss that with their tech staff when the time comes.
