Hello,

I wanted to know have anybody put a 255 Tire on the Stock 18 x 8 rim (which comes with the 235 mm)?

Well you can. That said it’s on the low side. Better off with a 8.5 or 9 inch wheel. It also depends on the tire itself. Check on Tire Rack to see what the manufacturer recommends.

Yes, but it makes handling worse because the tire flexes more. The extra grip is something but not much.

I may also recommend checking out 4WheelOnline. They have a huge selection of tires and wheels up for sale. You may just find the appropriately sized tires that you're looking for.

When I had stock 18x8s I ran Michelin’s Pilot Sport AS3+ in 255/45/18.
It was a great match with the rim. Car handled great and definitely better than the stock 235’s.

I keep hearing that. So.... prove it. Elastic bands on wheels and sucked in sidewalls are 99% aesthetics.

I'm certainly not going to test it, lol. But the theory is that the extra width is past the bead surface and thus "unsupported" in a way. Instead of laying down into the steel belts and then the rim under torque loads, it's just going to squirm around and not do anything useful. Thus if I had to choose between a good 235 and an OK 255, I'd go with a 235.

Of course we are talking about putting a big tire on a small wheel, right?

Slightly larger tire on a wheel : ie some bulge. Short of a pure race car with uber limited suspension movement on race only tires, there is no advantage. My 325's on a 19x10 vastly out grips / out corners the previous 275's on the same wheel. And yes, the 325's through a hard corner uses all the outside/inside tread that it isn't used in a straight line. Ass end isn't twitchy nor moves around. All this is just my observations. Others may vary.

Tire bulge is perfect for rim protection parking curb and looks fine if not too much.

Extra wide tires for the wheel (like 325 on a 10) are 99% for aesthetics. :)
