Is the g2 paint kit a brush on by hand?

Sorry for rehashing an old thread but I had a question regarding painting brake calipers.

I'm between G2 Paint vs something in a spray can like VHT high temp. For either option are people doing the painting and prep with the calipers still installed or completely removing them from the car.
And if the caliper is removed and disconnected from the brake line what all has to be done after reinstalling the caliper (bleeding the brakes etc)?

Had mine powder coated and they DO NOT need to be split, but my car has the standard GT brakes.

Finish on powder is MUCH nicer than any of those off the shelf diy kits and the finished product looks professional.

I'm getting ready to powder coat my calipers and just wanted to know if you ran into any issues removing and reinstalling the Pistons? How did you remove them, air compressor? By the way they look so good!

FWIW, for track use rotors can hit 4 digit temps and brake fluid in the calipers good for 600 degrees is advised. I believe the type of powder-coating discussed here is rated for the mid 400s at best.

Obviously lots of people powder-coat their calipers and have no problems so not an issue for the street or even less extreme track use. But something to think about where, how and if the car is going to be tracked.

Thanks for the advice. I have thought about this and and my car is a convertible with no roll cage so track use is a no. I mainly drive in the mountains for cruising.

What should I anticipate for a cost to have 4 calipers powder coated?

Haven't done anything in years BUT when I did, I found huge differences in quotes which I deduced were business model related and past experiences. A lot of powder-coaters around here specialized in large batch jobs but would throw out a high price for small jobs to either send you away or give them a windfall.

I just got a quote for 360$ without powder. That includes sandblasting, labor color coat, and labor clear coat (extra protection). They are requiring me to get 3lbs of color and clear so total 500$. I wanted a specific color not one they had in house.

If you go forward with it, please post pics. I’d like to see the quality.
I’m trying to figure out if I just buy R calipers, paint myself, or send off for powder coating.
