I have an MT82 and it seems fine so far but I'm sure it will give up. Has anyone gotten a calimer replacement? I was thinking of getting a stage 2 Calimer MT82 trans or maybe a Magnum XL? Im open to suggestions. What would you do ? I like the idea of a direct swap I heard if it was other than an MT82 one would need to figure out issues with the speedo.

Be careful with Calimer. I have a friend that installed a stage 2 on his S197 and there were several communication and other issues.

long story short is there are several MT-82 specs (like Michelin tires lol) and do your homework before you install.

good luck OP

How do you use your car? If itā€™s just street duty, Iā€™m sure it will last quite a while.

My MT82 broke on my 6th pass at the track. 4th gear exploded on the shift and it was game over. I have a gen5 stage 2 whipple on my car.

I went Magnum XL. The swap is not all that difficult. I bought the entire kit from Modern Driveline and it had everything I needed. The bonus is it has a SFI approved bell housing for racing.

Itā€™s night and day over the MT82. Just feels like a big beefy trans and it begs you to beat the snot out of it. Butter shifts at 7500+ rpms!

I use it on the street but I do want to race and poweshift it with no issues. I think I want to order a trans soon before anything happens.

How much did you pay for that trans/kit? How much labor?
I do have a ProCharger stage 2 and I ordered a fuel system for e85.

With tax, freight and everything needed, it was right around $6k.

I have an 18 and up, I don't believe they make a plug and play kit that will keep the warning lights happy yet for a t56 swap in a 18 up car with the d4. The 15 to 17 are plug and play and I wouldn't hesitate to go t56 on those years

Iā€™m going to do a Magnum XL in my car. Itā€™s a better, stronger transmission that can be upgraded to handle tons of power and I like the idea of having a steel SFI bell housing in case of a catastrophic clutch/flywheel failure. Iā€™ve gotten used to having legs, and Iā€™d hate to lose one or both of them to a mechanical failure that could have been prevented.

Right now, it's not even an option. The 2.66 boxes are hard to come by and the 8083 bellhousings are over twice as expensive (if you can find one) than they were just 2 years ago. I personally know 2 friends who are still waiting on items for their Magnum swap/build.

The Magnum has several advantages that have been exhaustively covered in other threads. If you're repurposing items you've already upgraded (like clutch and driveshaft) the issue starts to lean back toward a Calmer built unit. But if you're planning to upgrade those items anyway, the Magnum is the better choice from a number of standpoints.

But as I said, you could be waiting MONTHS at this point. I think the Quicktime bellhousing was around $800 when I bought mine 2 years ago. Now it might as well be made of 14 karat Gold.

I think the 2.97 units are still available.
