Numbers for Car&Driver's 2016 Lightning Lap are out! Here's some of the times many on here will be interested in:

2016 GT350R 2:51.8
2017 Camaro SS w/1LE package. 2:54.8
2017 Camaro V6 w/1LE package. 3.04.0
2017 Corvette Gran Sport 2:47.1
2017 Focus RS. 3:03.8

No doubt the GM fanboys will be coming out of the woodwork to jump on the fact that the GT350R's time is slower than last year's time for the z/28 (2:50.9).

My biggest surprise was the 1le beat the GTPP by over 10sec and the v6 1le beat it over a sec. Also surprised how fast the Vette GS was.

Interesting. I was expecting a sub 2:50 out of the R. I wonder if that Z/28 was the same one MT had that dyno'd at 470 whp...

I was, too, but you really can't compare the times directly, as the weather conditions a year apart were unlikely to be the same. The article states the grip of the Trofeo's made all the difference.

Exactly. Year over year comparisons are ridiculous. Same track, same day, same driver, or the variables aren't good enough to compare.

So, do you drive a Mustang GT as your signature here suggests, or a 2013 Camaro SS Convertible as listed under your screen name (13vertss/R's) over on Camaro6?
Omg lol. Stalker alert hahaha. I feel like I'm in the 6th grade again hahahaha :D

Swag. I'd like to see what they said about the 1LE.
Sang it's praises as a car that doesn't know it's an exotic or something along those lines.

Here's my question. On one hand the GM guys are going nuts over the fact that a SS w/1LE beats a Gen5 z/28 around a track on the latest ignition episode, yet in this test the GT350R beat the SS/1LE by over four seconds but ran a slower time than a z/28? This is why mag times are interesting reads but not necessarily the gospel regarding a car's performance compared to another one.

This is why I do not compare year over year tests. Sooooooo much changes. The R is better than the Z, and Z is better than the 1LE, albeit not as much as Z owners would like to admit.
