That is not correct. The 15-17's had the 6R80 auto trans which was co-developed between Ford and GM, there for it is a ford trans.
Also the new A10 in the 18+ is the 10R80 which was another joint venture between Ford and GM
Got some backwards info here bud.

It’s save money with older S550 Mustangs vs spending more on the 2018 mostly. I have the ecoboost but, the only reason I wanted the GT was the exhaust sound. The 2018 sounds the best ever. Especially with the active exhaust. I do have the digital dash and do love it. 10 speed automatic is real nice. If you get a 18 with navigation you will also have Apple CarPlay compatibility. You have to plug an iPhone physically to do it but, it works well. An 18 can also have adaptive cruise control and lane assist. I have it and it’s real nice. I have an 18 ecoboost and also have automatic high beam headlights. If money is the bottom line, the older models win. If money is not, the features on the 18 are hard to beat. How long before the 18s become more reasonably priced? I think another couple years unless you can find one with 75,000 miles on it or more. Just my opinion.

I have a 2017 which I of course like, but the 18-19 body style is appealing to me. If I were to buy a replacement vehicle it would be easy for me to move up to 18-19

I agree with all of the above for the most part however, I have seen some 2018s with under 15k miles selling for 29k. The 2015-17s are still in the 20-28k range, with some still in the 30s, the low end of which have pretty high mileage (pushing 80k miles). I imagine that by the middle of next year the 2018s should be in that mid 20 range with fairly low miles still.

If you are someone who likes the latest and greats go with a 2018. They have much more tech, and more power, then the 15-17. As mentioned 2015 was the 50th anniversary year. That was more important to me so that's why I bought a 15, but that doesn't seem to be a factor to you.

Unfortunately you will be playing a bit of russian roulette when it comes to the 2018's.... well documented engine problems on this forum. I don't like the front end redesign but some people love it... It's the first generation of the new engine design and there are issues... tread carefully...
2016-17 are solid engine wise, but if you are looking used you will need to check closely to see how they've been treated. I would check out the classifieds on this forum... most guys selling here take really good care of their vehicles...

Whether you prefer the GT350/15-17 look better than the newer Euro Mustang look is really the main consideration. Both are nice In their own way and In my opinion neither outshines each other to any memorable degree. Some people also are against having a shared GM part as a major part of a Ford product especially a Mustang. In the old days, people went nuts when they found their new 1979 Pontiac Trans Am had an Oldsmobile engine. Really.
In today's global business world the practice of sharing parts between manufacturers is probably a lot more accepted by the Ford die hards of today.

Except the 2018+ is a brand new car with a 100% new engine, chassis, interior, etc and the 10 speed smokes a FI 15-17 stock.

I don't know about your location OP, but around my neck of the woods(Nor Cal), there are a few new 2018's still on the lot and they're discounted quite heavily.
I just picked up a 2019 out the door for under sticker.

Depends on who you ask.
True. I’m sure there are some pretty strong opinions on this but there seems to be an overal agreement that the new A10 is awesome. It would be great to see what the various opinions are from 15-17 auto owners.

No issues at all. Best auto I've ever had.

The 15-17 autos are bullet proof pretty much to around 1000 hp. The new A10 remains to be proven, but it bangs gears extremely fast which makes it quicker. I saw a youtube video looking at the tach during 1/4 mile run. While shifting the tach went to 7500-6100 as it shifted to each gear keeping the engine at peak power through the run. I believe it hit 7 gears in the 1/4 mile.

I personally prefer 6 speed manual. You'll definitely get a great deal on 15-17 compared to the 18-19. I think it would be a good idea for you to drive both versions for a real world choice and comparison.
