You can change it in the settings whether you want to use normal cruise control function or ACC.
It's all in the owner's manual.
It is especially good for your nerves if you have someone in front of you who is not able to drive at a constant pace and cannot be overtaken and helps to keep a safe following distance without having to watch it yourself (This is e.g. a topic on the Autobahn over here, distance offences are sanctioned, works like a speed camera, but can also save you when traffic suddenly backs up).
