I'm planning to go with 305/45/17 MT ET Street Rs (28x12.5R17) mounted on 17x9" 1994-'04 Mustang 03 Cobra wheels. I've run 305s on 9.5" wheels in the past. Will they fit the 9" or should I go with the 10.5? MT lists the minimum size wheel as being 9.5" so I'm leading towards the wider wheels. People have posted that the 9' wheels fit without a problem -

Size: 17x9
Offset: +26mm
Backspacing: 6.02
Weight: 23lbs
Lug Pattern: 5x114.3

The 10.5s are -

Size: 17x10.5
Offset: +27mm
Backspacing: 6.83
Weight: 24lbs
Lug Pattern: 5x114.3

This is my first Mustang so I'm learning what fits and what doesn't.

Idk why people don’t run a 275s DR at the track if they aren’t daily driving on a track setup and worried about what looks cool from behind. You can hook and go fast on a 275 just fine people, plenty of 8 sec cars out there as proof.

That was actually my first choice. 275s on 17x9s. Then I started looking at sizes.

The stock tires are 27.3"
275/40/17 - 26.1
305/45/17 - 27.8

305s are the closest to the stock diameter. I'm up for whatever hooks and won't cost me any time based on the size difference.

26” height is plenty for a car even making 600whp. Just invest into proper suspension to leave. The tire can’t do all the work and seems suspension is overlooked by so many. Always amusing when people claimed “built rear” and it consisted of gears, girdle cover and nothing else or the fact they have springs takes into account “built rear”. BMR for example makes a lot of products to prevent / lessen wheel hop but that’s not a built IRS or upgraded axles. So when someone puts a hole into the IRS cover or snaps and axle they immediately want to point fingers at anyone but themselves. So in short, 275 will be plenty of at 26” height though it may not have a cool “stance” when parked or down the road. It’ll have a cooler MPH and ET then a 305 325 335 or some ridiculous tire ppl put on their N/A cars because they feel they’ve been gifted with the only car that can’t ever hook.

One other thing that might make a difference is I currently cross the line at 5500 RPMs in 6th gear. This is on street tires (265/35/20s). Without changing the shift points, it's just a couple hundred RPMs away from shifting into 7th. The 275s are shorter so they might put me into the next gear. I plan on having the shift points bumped up to take advantage of the extra power the in the upper RPM range. Plus, I'll be installing an NX turbo next week so the car will probably at least gain 6-8 MPH on the top end.

I should probably wait until after the turbo is installed and we complete the tune. Then I can use the1/4 mile track app to see what the RPMs are at the end. I might have room for some extra gear which would help with acceleration.

Finally test fit my set yesterday, I think they look good and these ET street R hook well even on the street. All black would have been better, but since they stopped selling them don't really have a choice. Function over form in this case. Went with a 26' tyre to hopefully improve my 60'. Setup with tyres cost me $1150AUD ($700-750USD)

Thats a pity they are not all black. They look decent though. Im looking at getting some good DR's, not sure what to go with ET's, Nitto or 888r's.

Can't argue with them for the price, spend a lot closer to $2k for a pair of racestars with tyres. Go ET street R in 305/45r17 and don't look back, nothing else hooks as well

I really like the price of the setup as well. But what do you all think about r888s or mickeys

Did anyone ever confirm that the 99-04 17x10.5 wheels work on the s550? I've seen evidence of the 17x9 but no actual pics of the 10.5s

That offset is way too low, especially for a drag wheel. There are some members rocking 19/20 x 10.5 on a 30-32 offset rear, but they're running at least 2 degrees neg camber to avoid rubbing, usually with max 285 wide tyre. If you ran that on a drag setup with a drag alignment, you'd be rubbing the fender with the actual tread lol
