Sorry not to hijack but can you break a half shaft on a manual if you just use street tires?

What I have seen is sticky tires and launching. But anything is possible with power adders. Keep searching the threads.

I asked my installing dealer & Roush about this and they both said the stock shafts should be OK with street tires. They said the autos "load" the drive line so there is not that initial shock to everything dropping the clutch in a stick causes.

IF you intend to put on wider tires, drag/sticky radials, take it to the strip on a regular basis, want to be the neighborhood burnout king etc. then it's time to consider upgrading.

As with anything mechanical, they could break on a hard launch from a stop sign if there was some weakness in them from the plant etc.

My dealer said they knew a lot of the guys with autos they built were going to the strip at least on occasion & they had not seen any come back for 1/2 shaft issues (yet).

I've heard of a 900 hp helion car breaking a half shaft.

With a manual car, wheel hop is the destroyer of the stock axles regardless of what tires you use. If you experience wheel hop, get out of it quickly.
