I see there is a "recirculated" air button, but when I use it, it circulates the already warm air. I can't seem to find how to bring in the cold air from outside into the cabin. I can see the replies now... so, without opening the window that would let the rain in, is there a mode to place the HVAC system in so it will bring in cold outside air?

I've noticed this as well. My previous cars would allow air in without having ac on. I liked that specially at night. As for your question, I myself don't know.

Any mode other than recirculating (or off) will bring in outside air.

Besides turning on the A/C, what other modes would bring in the cold outside air?

Turn recirculated air off and it should use outside air. Recirculated uses interior air. Also you can turn off the AC compressor by pressing AC button.

In all of my older nissans, last four automatic ac was made such that if I turn the system off, then instead of hitting g "auto" or fan, but press the air mode (the one that directs air to. Ent, feet, erc), then it won't turn on air but air will still come in through vents during cruising.

ok, so I am really dence... If the system is off, all of the vent ducts are closed. Do you mean leave the system on, but just turn off recirculated air? Sorry...

:D

Was that on purpose? Funny regardless.

To answer your question, "yes" that is what they mean.
If the system isn't recirculating air, it's bringing it in from the outside.

Now, it appears some want air to come in when the system is just off. Some cars will do this. If you have the HVACm off, no fan or anything… it will allow outside air to blow in while driving. Not all cars do this though… and I don't have my car yet, so I can't say for sure either. :)

Yes. But remember the outside air will still go through the heater core/ evaporator core so for temp change you still need to change that. But yes you are pulling outside air regardless

If recirc is off, it uses outside air.
If recirc in on, it uses inside air.
