I do love the Speedy, but the JLC will always beat the Speedy, and almost anything else you can throw at it.

They announced that the the speedmaster/swatch will not be sold online. So if you want one the swatch store is the only place to buy one or eBay.

Yeah, I have to see or hear that it will never be available on line. Only that this past initial release was select stores only. They have already officially stated it is not a limited edition or limited run, so don’t really know why they would do that permanently.

I was planning on getting a really nice watch box but I saw this in the preowned inventory for the vendor that I've bought my watches at.

Ever since I got the BB58 I have been on the lookout for the older model. The reason why is because I love how its bigger (although not by much) and the Rose emblem. The rose emblem just looks so much better than the shield emblem. I have been passively looking for this specific watch, the ones I saw online all contain the metal bracelet, but I specifically wanted one with the leather strap.

Months ago I saw the red version pop up in the pre-owned inventory and I was surprised to see it. I thought about getting it but it wasn't a for sure thing. Weeks later when I decided I wanted it, it was gone. So when I saw this one I knew I needed to get it because time was limited.

I have really expanded my collection, I have a total of 6 watches now. I thinks that a good number. Really the only other watch I want is the Omega Snoopy 50th Silver Snoopy award. After I get my watchbox I am going to chill out for awhile. Im going to start saving to get the new Civic Type R 😅

As much as I like the high end stuff, I think that a lot of it is pure marketing and you can do just as well buying a lesser brand. I could have bought a new Omega Seamaster (I did like the Aqua Terra) but instead I purchased a Tissot automatic (a PRC 200) in 2013. It just went in for a service recently and in the first month after it's return, ran less than 10 seconds behind one of my quartz watches that I set it against. That's COSC performance in a sub $1000 watch. It's currently about 8 seconds off, having reset the time on May 1. For special occasions, I put on either my dad's 1952 Omega Seamaster (cal. 353) or my grandfather's Cyma (cal. R420). I also have an Oyster Pioneer (a Canadian market Rolex produced watch) that my dad bought to serve him while he was aboard HMCS Skeena performing escort duty in the North Atlantic up to late October 1944 when she was grounded and lost in a gale off Iceland. He survived, 15 men didn't. On top of those I have a half dozen pocket watches (including my other grandfather's Rolex Eaton Quarter Century watch, presented in 1950), the oldest, IIRC, dates back to 1893, and ladies' wrist watches. I guess I'm happier having all the vintage family watches than one expensive high line watch. I might add that except for one of my mom's watches, all are in working order.

Congrats. Nice find on a beautiful watch. I’ve never been much of a Rolex fan but I’ve always liked Tudor. This one is one of my favorites. I also like the Pelegos.

So, looking for some input from any of you Speedy Pro owners. Finally am going to get my grail watch,The Speedmaster Professional with the Hesalite crystal. The only question is whether I get the older 1861 movement or the new 3861 movement. Both have their pluses (it's a Speedy so there are no negatives). Thoughts?

If you like wearing the speedy on a leather strap, you can pick up the older one and save a bit of money. If you like it on a metal bracelet, the newer model definitely has a better bracelet. Other than that, the differences are not a game changer.

The newer movement has hacking seconds. If it makes some people feel like they’re getting a better movement, fine, but I think having hacking seconds in a mechanical watch is silly. JLCs, VC, and most Pateks don’t even use hacking seconds.

Besides, you can still manipulate the seconds hand in the older Speedy simply by rotating the crown very slightly in reverse.
