I installed this unit on my wife's car.

    PROS:
    - no drill installation
    - easy to calibrate
    - my wife likes it

    CON:
    - the unit did not come with a fuse nor a fuse tap

The most time consuming part of the installation for me was trying to hide the wiring, buzzer, and main module. I routed all of the wiring on the passenger side of the car and used a #12 solid copper wire as a snake to pull the wires through the firewall grommet. Spaying the wiring with Lucas Interior Detailer beforehand makes it slide through easier. It'll be interesting to hear impressions after using it for a couple months. I put one of these on my last Mustang. When I first installed it, it was great. After a while, I didn't even hear the beep that let me know it's activated when starting the car. That's when the fun started because for some reason after a while it seemed intermittent. It wouldn't beep as I pulled up to a curb, get out look, I'm close, backup and pull forward again and it beeps... Also, for some reason it just wouldn't beep at some curbs. Then I would question, did it activate when I started the car?

If it was 100% reliable and worked at every curb, it would be nice. After a while I was not trusting it and just stopping about 2 ft before every curb anyway.

It has been working great since we put it on a couple of months ago. It gives about a one second beep signal when the car is turned on. Ours is set at an 18" distance and a 4" height. When the car gets within the 18" the buzzer emits 3 short beeps. Hope we don't experience the problems you did.

Glad it's working! Mine was about 7 years ago, maybe they've been improved? I adjusted mine about the same.

    Update:

While on a recent road trip we came across a parking situation that caused us to re-calibrate our parking sensor with a new distance. The unit only reads what is directly in front of it at the distance you have it set. When the curb is angled and the distance is set to short, it could be a problem. We re-calibrated ours to 30" to prevent this from happening.

It's kind of hard to explain but maybe my crude drawing will help someone out. Scan_20170219.jpg

The parking sensor is still working well, (car on the right). Double Scoop 002 (2).JPG

Hi Bill, how is your front sensor holding up. I am thinking about installing their 5000 CA6 which has a camera as well as the beeper. I have emailed Brandmotion in the US a couple of times to verify whether it will interface with the Sync 3 display but as yet no reply.

It worked well for a long time until a break in the proximity sensor wire, (part A). She has been after me to fix it but I haven't called to see if they will sell only that part. The break was just inside the firewall and I'm thinking when I pulled it through the opening I stretched it out.

Thanks Bill. I wish there were more reviews that I could get before committing to one of these. I guess the camera may help in situations as you described above.

I need to do some research on the camera too. If you decide to pull the trigger on it would be great to hear how it works out.

The thing that gets me more often is the side curb situation.

In Florida parking lots they often have these curbed islands for trees. But then the hurricanes knock the trees down and they never get replaced. So you can't see them and run the risk of getting curb rash.

This is where I wish we had a full on BMW style proximity system.

Yep, it's harder to judge the distance for me with the curb located at the the right front. We test drove a 2018 Chevy Traverse a while back with a 360-Degree ‘Surround Vision’ Camera, she was impressed with that set-up.

I've had one or 2 instances where mine has failed to detect a sloping curb, and I'm struggling to have confidence in it. If it had a means of indicating a decreasing distance to the object (like a regular parking sensor has beeps with increasing frequency), that would let you know it had detected the curb and then you could drive forward confidently and wait for the faster beeps to tell you when to stop.
