Well Ford claims that the current Mustang is the top seller in Germany for sports coupes so why not follow the leader. How about the latest Audi rear sequential tail lights! Thank you Ford for setting the trends in style.

It's more a function of Ford (and everyone else) following the European requirements for car design relating to pedestrian safety.

For front engined vehicles, that flattens the nose, pushes the hood up (to provide ~1" of crush zone between the engine and hood), and some other things. Add in the US side impact standards that are shoving beltlines up to protect people from being T-boned by some hausfrau in an SUV, then lard on the fact that everyone is using the same 3D design software (and therefore the same limitations on available compound curves) instead of clay.

You end up with a series of constraints driving sport coupes of the same general size to the same look.
