I'm in the process of installing this and on my 2016 there are metal lips around the small hole on the inside of the arm such that they block the metal sleeve from being able to slide from the large hole over to the small hole. There's no mention of this issue on the instructions so maybe Ford added it later to stop us from doing this mod??

Regardless, can I do anything about it?

It's at 4:24 or so on this video that I'm referring to: [ame]

Its been on most mustangs since this brace came out. You have to break the tabs off and get rid of any excess metal then slide the spacers in.

Thanks. I figured it out after shining a flashlight in there and ended up doing as you said. They're obviously from the hole cutting process at the parts maker. Instead of cutting a full circle and leaving the resultant nickle-sized piece of metal banking around in the control arm, they leave it tacked on. 2 of them actually came out.

As happened with the BMR CB005 install, this ended up taking way longer than it should have.

Suggestions for BMR:

1. Indicate as much on your instructions. ie. bang them off with a screwdriver and hammer.

2. The lower control arm bolts are 21 mm not 24 mm. Your bolts are 24 mm.

3. Shorten the length of the metal sleeves by 1/8" as I had to grind down both to be able to slide into place. When the hole is drilled by the part maker, it creates a lip on the inside that prevents the sleeve from sliding into place. As much as I tried leveraging that lip down the sleeve grinding was the solution.

Haven't driven it yet to comment on whether it's worth it or not ...

Thanks for the feedback Mustang_Lou

The car we developed this product on has 24mm sized bolt heads. It seems as if some are 24 and some 21 possibly. In the other popular CB006 thread I believe several people confirmed they have 24mm as well. After looking into this, the front arms are 24mm....so I'm thinking maybe the bolts get mixed up during the assembly process maybe. Not 100% certain at this moment but I will likely request for an added 21mm mention.

The spacers. We designed them originally based on one of our development cars. The issue you had was abundant. So we shortened them once already to an amount that we feel is the shortest height before potentially causing damage on some cars. I rather play it safe than have customers caving in their subframes excessively OR having a spacer that is too short which bangs and rattles around. We will keep the current height as it's not very common we have people need to shave them down (based on feedback and the amount we ship)

Enjoy!

CB 006 & Bridgestone tires

I'm planning on grabbing one of these too. This should compliment the BMR mods I've done in the rear :-)

I'm a believer in BMR parts as well. This brace looks like a superior design to the Steeda G Trac brace, especially considering the clearance issues the GTrac brace has. As soon as spring rolls I'm getting a CB006 along with new tires.
The turn-in can really be felt with a new alignment and I also S-04 pole position Bridgestone 255/45/18 for the rear. Handles great with 1.5 neg camber front and rear.

More races and championships are won with 2005-Current Mustangs using BMR Suspension and Chassis components than any other brand!

Congrats to Chris Ho! He had a dominant 2017 season!

CB006 remains the best undercar Chassis Brace for the S550!

Just wanted to thank all of you who are using our CB006!

Also, a reminder below of how well thought-out, precise and beautiful this component is :headbang:

HI there

Well today was more about removing a part to fix well a design floor with that part and replacing the part with a far better engineered unit.

As such I present you the Steeda G-Trac brace that has a floor in the design:

IMG_8233.jpg

The brace itself does the job as advertised and well, but the design floor is the fact it reduces ground clearance by 1" on the car, which on lowered cars particular ones on Steeda Ultralite or Eibach Sportline can be an issue. For me I was scraping on taller speed bumps and even worse the car was stopped dead entering a business park that had metal runner sticking out the ground, thankfully I was going under 5mph so more a scare than any real damage.

In the below image you can see the reduced ground clearance and where the part has being catching:

IMG_8232.jpg

You can even see how its bent/enlarged the opening in the subframe.
The reason I went with Steeda G-Trac brace is because at the time it was the only brace on the market.

Now I present you BMR's CB006:

IMG_8228.jpg

The quality of this kit is in a completely different league to the Steeda, the thought and engineering that has gone into this part is above and beyond. Kelly at BMR should be over the moon with what they have achieved. Even the bolts, washers and spacers are a lot more beefier and chunky, the only downside is it is a little heavier. But the quality and finish are vastly superior.

Some pictures of BMR CB006 on the car:

IMG_8235.jpg

In the above photo you can see the BMR has no clearance issues at all because it does not bolt into the subframe, it in fact connects to the front lower control arm bolts, so not only do you get more clearance and a better quality unit it is also more functional.

When we originally fitted the Steeda it was relatively easy but a little fiddly as things did not line up perfectly, whereas the BMR unit was like a factory piece, everything lined up. Infact it was so easy we had removed the Steeda and fitted the BMR in less than one hour.

I cannot tell you if car feels different, it has not being driven far, what I can tell you is I have piece of mind now regarding speed bumps and clearance issues and can rest that my subframe won't take any further damage.

The Steeda unit is good, but I would not recommend it on cars lowered more than 1" due to clearance issues, this part is now for sale to a good home. :D

Why is there a problem fitting this on a V6 car? Is the oil pan in the way?

Does this have any similar function to the PP underbody brace?

It's rearward of the engine (PP underbody brace is mostly forward of the engine) and ties the Y of the front subframe together, along with supporting the lower front arm points. I'd consider it or the CB007 for my car to protect my drain valve alone
