Lower Control Arm Spherical Bearings for S550 Mustangs
BK081

Minimize wheelhop and enhance the rear stability of your 2015 and newer Mustang with a Lower Control Arm Spherical Bearing Kit from BMR Suspension. The stock rubber bushings are great for absorbing NVH, but do little for performance. The large spherical bearings in BMR’s Lower Control Arm Spherical Bearing Kit eliminate bushing deflection, which reduces lower control arm deflection, rear wheel alignment changes, rear spindle rotation, and wheelhop. The BMR Suspension Standard Lower Control Arm Spherical Bearing Kit (BK081) uses heavy-duty 1-inch spherical bearings in CNC-machined bearing cups that replace the factory rubber bushings. CNC-machined billet aluminum spacers complete the assembly, allowing for a perfect fit and increased performance for any driving style. Designed for street performance, drag race, and handling applications. These eliminate almost all fore and aft lower control arm movement. This also reduces wheelhop and increases throttle response and handling stability, while greatly improving the overall feel in any performance-driving situation. The BMR Standard Lower Control Arm Spherical Bearing Kit comes in a durable silver zinc finish. Installation time is 3-4 hours.

Besides price, what is the difference between these and the BK055's?

There are a few differences. To start, the bearing cup on the BK081 has fewer machining processes because it does not use the snap ring retainers that the BK055 uses. Beyond that, the actually bearings themselves are different. The BK081 uses a 1-inch bearings like the BK055, but the bearing design is different and uses a smaller bearing race. The bearing in the BK081 has a load rating of 82,800-pounds and has a center ball diameter of 1.5-inches. The BK055 is also a 1-inch bearing, but uses a larger race. This bearing has a center ball diameter of over 1.8 inches and is load rated at 90,000-pounds. The bearing is the BK081 is extremely strong, but is less expensive than the bearings used in the BK055.

If you have any other questions please let me know and either myself or Kelly will get them answered.

Thanks,

Pete

Any issues with galvanic corrosion having to different metals in contact with each other?

As Pete touched on the differences, in a nutshell the BK081 is simply more cost effective RLCA Bearing Solution for those not wanting/needing the features and benefits that the BK055 has.

We are able to build these BK081 versions for much less, so we decided to have an option that passes this savings on to the consumer.

The primary differences are, compared to the higher priced BK055:

BK055 uses higher strength and higher cost 7075-T6 bearing spacers (black)
BK081 uses billet 6061-T6 bearing spacers (silver)

BK055 bearing cup features a retaining stop flange, as well as a snap ring on the opposite side. (Captured on both sides when installed)
BK081 is a press in only design

BK055 features a stronger and much more expensive bearing (largest in the industry)
BK081 features an industry standard, and much lower cost bearing (standard)

BOTH designs feature a very nice taper for a clean and accurate press fit.

This is simply a lower cost solution, which will work well. We (BMR) have been offering multiple solutions for many many years - in an effort to cater to and capture a large group of consumers. Just like the new low-cost vertical links I have been personally testing now for months, and other items that will come to the market over the years that are great quality at the best price point. We typically try to avoid the "one size fits all" approach.

This BK081 design is tested and proven. We actually installed this design in early 2015 and still have them installed on one of our development cars. Picture attached shows this design well over 2 years ago installed on a BMR development car. ;)

Like the OEM Bushing sleeves, the BMR RLCA Bearing offerings are steel.

We have not seen any issues. That being said, we do not R&R our pieces as we treat them as a permanent modification. If a bearing were to go bad, we would simply replace the bearing in the unit, not the entire part.

Hey Kelly, any NVH associated with these bearings.... I was watching one of your videos recently and I believe you said their was noise associated with the BK055 and less with the BK081
Thanks!
