Ok so everything I've read says you should NOT have a bias ply (slick) rear tire with radials (or stock) tire in front.

Well when I watched the ford .99 challenge I noticed they WERE running Hoosiers bias ply slicks in the back with the radial stock tires in the front.

Isn't this a big NO NO?

It's doable, unwanted though.

I've done it many times. It's mostly a disclaimer from tire companies since they haven't tested it much.

However, if you get a rear wobble going the front tires will not help balance it out when they are stiff sidewall radials.

I'd feel much better about it on an auto car than a stick.

that's what they say.... i run bias ply front with a bias ply slick or sometimes radial slick on my race car and it's very stable.

Thanks for the input!

The last part troubles me, I thought the whole point of a rear bias ply was for stick... I'm trying to find a solid set-up for stick in the 1/4.

He was referring to bias in the rear and radial up front.
