Best way to jack the rear to rotate tires?

I need to jack the rear to swap the rear tires (I've already switched back and front on each side) to complete tire rotation per manual. Don't want to use diff (please don't turn this into a diff jacking point debate thread). The plan is to jack one side, insert jack stand, then do same on other side (front wheels chocked of course). Is there a better way?

Curious, are you swapping left rear for the right rear?

Which tires do you have? Best to check if they are unidirectional. No all tires can be.

It sounds like you have a base Mustang (no PP1 or 2).

Just another thing to check is if the front and rear have different offsets. I do not know if the base do. I doubt it but always possible.

Again, I am sure you already know all this stuff but I figure it best to bring it up , just in case.

Do you have a spare? You could jack up one side, use the spare and then go at the other. That's what I would do rather than getting both off the ground.

they still cannot jack an end of the car up. Only lift an entire side. OP was looking to jack the entire rear in one shot

Get the jacking rails and then weld a piece of metal across. There ya go lol

But in all seriousness, without jacking the car up by the pumpkin, what else is connected to both sides? Nothing.

Your choices are:
A post lift
Jacking up each side individually (which is easier with jacking rails)

Don't be lazy lol

This is one advantage of swapping seasonal tires in the fall and spring. I tag which tires are going back where in order to accomplish the rotation pattern, and it works even if I'm only jacking one tire at a time (although I do a side at a time with the jacking rails).

Of course, this only works if you run winter tires and if your annual mileage is such that you can go 6 to 8 months on one set without exceeding the rotation schedule.

Harbor Freight has a steel floor jack cross beam. I went to buy one but they were sold out. Not sure if anyone on this forum has one, but would like to know if they're worth the approx. $40. I have Steeda jacking rails on my car.

Don't know about the Mustang, but I remember that you could do some serious driveline dirt on my BMWs by jacking with the pumpkin.

For a live axle car (like my 2014) the pumpkin and axle tubes and mounts are designed to support the weight of the car. For an S550, the pumpkin does not support any load and the bolts that hold it to the car, are to support the weight of the pumpkin and hold it in place. Those bolts are not designed to support the weight of the car. Sure, anyone can get away with it....until they don't.
