I was completely floored by Motor Trend this year! The GT350 was second only to the new 911. It's like deja vu all over again. Who would have thunk?

Dude driving the 350 (Patryk) in the BDC GP had the only manual in the race and held his own, even leading for a while. The 350 was great on the brakes. Wished the had used an R just for that added extra.

R didn't have any updates in 2019. 2019 GT350 however has major refreshes including engine which now share parts with 2020 GT500. I think this is the reason why they choose 2019 GT350 and not R. Besides, R was second to McLaren 570S in 2016.

Shocking that it puts it to the $180k Project 8 Jaguar.

As far as I’m concerned, there is no comparison for the money, GT350 all the way.
Match ups like these are never really unbiased, just way to many variables. Drivers, tires, track, conditions etc. etc. all have impact on outcome.
Let’s face it, any of those cars are incredible but only one has bang for the buck beat....and a manual.

You can get the 911 with a manual, so that's nice. But I'd opt for the PDK *if* I also had the GT350. I feel like the two would be a very good pairing.

2019 R got the GT500 block. Also there is some thought that later 2019 R production also got the updated steering of the GT500, although a switchover date can't be confirmed, if there was one. Several owners of later 2019 R production models, including me, have noticed that tramlining in later 2019 R models is gone.

Last year I was invited to a private Porsche Driving Experience event and got to drive a Carrera 4S. I am far from an outstanding driver but I have enough track experience to make me look somewhat stupid. And I can truly say, apart from the appalling exhaust note, it truly is disturbingly, annoying, frustratingly good. The new 8 speed PDK is just, oh my god. Oh. My. God.

But forget all that, can we talk about the Senna and how it turns that speedo into the right side of the decimal point on a stop watch!? Holy sheet...

The 2019 R did have the same ABS update and the shared engine parts updates with the 500. The 2020 update added the new steering geometry. They may or may not included the 2020 R in next years test, but doubt it because they will also have the 500 and they will probably not want two mustangs in the same test.
