Have you noticed any lower IAT?
Yes! Very much! I did open most the holes in the front air inlet with a drill first then cleaned up with a dermal for improved air flow. I did this while I had the air box out for insulation so I was able to put the shop vac hose in to back side of grill to catch all the trimming pieces.I run at a busy track in south Fl with long lines in staging lanes, this was well worth the effort. The 2nd pic with the shop vac was taken when I had my 2015 but I did the same on my 2019.

Stock Box - and anything that can suck in engine compartment air is a bad design.

As others have said, stock, or a higher flowing filter. Keep that shit covered. There is a reason why most supercharge packs have the box, dont want to suck in engine heat.

I'm happy with my pmas. I may eventually order the new style maf housing that's made of plastic.

Interesting - I never really considered keeping the stock box but it sounds like that's the consensus

So are people seeing any kind of benefit with a drop in filter?

I have tried 2 no tune CAI in the past I do a lot of 1/4 racing. 1 had no gain at the track after many attempts the 2nd one ( not mentioning the brands) I lost a tenth and 1 MPH which is a car length slower. That`s when I insulated the stock air box with AFE filter for my lowest ET. I never used the stock filter probably a small gain but every little helps at the track. Filter https://afepower.com/afe-power-31-10255-magnum-flow-pro-dry-s-air-filter

I ordered 301A package for drag mod because not doing a tune for now and the drag mod works Great! But I am keeping my eye on 2 closed CAIs but I have been burned twice in the past with no gains. Her are two I am waiting to see if anyone tries them. https://injen.com/i-30498667-injen-evolution-cold-air-intake-system.html#!year=2018||make=FORD||model=MUSTANG GT||submodel=5.0L V8

In theory, any with no tune required would likely not be worth it as their wouldn't be increased maf size and no significant increase in air flow.

I've been eyeballin' the Holley one as well. After seeing your posts, I've been wondering if I just want to go drop in and insulate or Holley. After speaking with Holley, the car was tested way after the CAI was installed so the computer had time to "learn" the new setup. So I'm inclined to believe the numbers. Wonder if it would benefit from insulation like the stock did...

My $0.02.. if a JLT with a proper tune on it for a larger housing and the hood up for max airflow only makes 7-8whp (false due to the hood being up, goes away when you close it), no way a sealed is going to make 22hp more.

Speaking of intakes no one has tested, I just snagged one of these this past weekend:

https://cp-e.com/shop/product/ford-mustang-5-0l-v8-icebox-intake-system/

Different from many, material wise too. Tune required and the MAF parameters are on the site. Guess we'll see how it goes. I went with the dry filter option. Otherwise, my stock 2018 intake with drop-in filter is on standby!

Injen's offering 20+ gains on a no tune CAI? Seems too good to be true

Their website needs help. Shows the 2018 Mustang GT filter in title but description says ecoboost and data .xls says 2015-17 GT. Not sure I can rely on anything the website says.
