I'm sorry :( For what its worth, I had a JLT on my 18 and went back stock. Just wast comfortable with the higher temps at low speed. Lots of debate on this one but there is at least general consensus among some trusted folk in the industry that the factory box is pretty darn good. Much has been posted about this in other threads.

I have the jlt as well. I like the sound and look of it. it flow more air and feels great out here in cooler parts of the year but now with triple digit heat I can definitely feel the heat soak after driving around all day. Not much of an issue except late afternoon. The factory intake is well designed. Dont expect much peak hp out of a cai but you might come up with a little mid range boost ~10hp ish.

On 18+ the OEM is actually pretty good. Do a drop in and call it a day to keep iats at the most reasonable and still have decent flow. Although I guess if you live somewhere that is cold year round, like Antarctica, iats are a non issue :)

I'm actually going into an unknown territory with an intake option that I haven't seen a single review on and many just balked at it's price when it came out. I got a great deal on it this weekend. It's closed box and has the MAF curve parameters provided and tune only. I'll post about it later if everything works out with it. If it does after tune revisions, I'm going to get it powdercoated grabber blue by Enigma coatings in Austin for a sweet look.

I wanted to wait for the Steeda revised closed intake but that is taking way too long and I haven't heard much on it more than just rumors.

Save yourself $400 and just install a high flow filter. Aftermarket CAI are a waste of money. They might sound cool or impress people when you pop the hood, but the only real measurable gain is making tour wallet lighter.

19 Roush RS3 P2, 6 speed; Lots of suspension work
Just my opinion. To each there own determining if its worth the money. That said, belong to Toyota 4Runner forum and we saw this come up too many times. A member bought a Toyota TRD CAI and did before and after Dyno runs. Confirmed that the CAI did increase HP/Torque aligned to what was advertised. Putting in perspective; my 4Runner is around 5000lbs with a 4L 270 Crank HP motor. It has the Aerodynamics of a brick. It's a TRD Pro with Modified suspension-- sits high off the ground with Big tires. So what was the performance gains? I saw more and quantifiable gains when I modified the exhaust.

For my 19GT PP1, I put a Roush Pac 1 CAI and Tune. I definitely feel a big difference in torque and performance. I have 3.73 gears and took on first long road trip today at 400 miles. Averaging 75-80MPH with random bursts much higher. Tank up this morning at 25.4 MPG (93 Octane Sunoco) and Tank home (93 Octane Shell) at 25.5. This afternoon running with AC for about 100 miles.

I did not want to do a tune so I went with removing the air box and using insulation from HomeDepot and a drop in AFE filter. With this and M/T DRS I am running 11.78 At 119 in Fl heat. 3:55`s and drag mod.
