Afternoon everyone. As we all know the stock S550 strut/shock/spring set up is not really performance oriented, even the PP set up on my 17 GT leaves a lot to be desired. We all know the PP is bouncy and nosedives on braking.
Here at the shop I’ve been able to test some coilovers from various companies through a local supplier to include: Peddlers, SR, Steeda, BC, AFCO, Viking, and RaceLand.
The AFCO and Vikings can not really be considered budget type coil overs as they cost a bunch, but I do use those both on my Foxbodies and SVO. Performance and durability is top notch.
I’m really not going to go into any real detail on any of these but one, since they’ve almost all been widely used and reviewed, Especially Steeda and Peddlers both are of good quality. Of the remainder BC, SR, and Raceland they are very much as Peddlers offering with varying spring rates and shocks/struts valves for those rates.
The stand out for me where the RaceLand Primo adjustable coil overs, at $699 shipped they are a bargain. These where tested on city streets here in Va both smooth and potholed, roads under constructed etc also highway, curves and especially cloverleaf interchanges. The RaceLands eliminated the nose dive on braking and bouncy ride OEM delivers, corners flat, keeps the tires planted, I like the firm ride. One thing I don’t like is the camber adjustment, like others you have to either cut a bigger hole or remove the assembly to adjust.
Listed below are the specs etc as published by RaceLand.
1.30 day satisfaction guarantee, return for full refund with in 30 days new or used if unsatisfied with drivability or performance.
2.Lifetime Warranty.
3.Spring rates front 535 lbs/in, rear 765 lbs/in.
4.Drop 1-3 inches rear, 1-4 inches front.
5.15 way adjustable.
6.External adjustment knobs
7.Front camber plates.
8.Hard anodized
9.3 spammer wrenches included.
10.New fully adjustable 1” shorter front sway bar links.

Well that’s all I have for now. I’ve had the kit on my 17 GT for several months now and I am very pleased with them, I’ve added lighter 18” wheels and much stickier tires since installation. The PP sway bars seem to work very well with the kit.
I took a picture comparing the parts to OEM PP, the other pictures are from RaceLands web site.
BTW I do not work for RaceLand nor am I in any way connected to them.

I had Raceland coilovers on my 2006 Tiburon for several years. No issues whatsoever. I do remember it stating on the box that they are not intended for track use. If your goal is to get low on your street car, then these are perfect.

Hi
What is the car for?
Track only?
Drag?
Mainly daily with some roadcourse?
The reason is because this will drive the answer.
I'm 90% track dedicated.
2018 pp1.
I found great success pairing ford perf struts and shocks with linear handling BMR springs. (The stiffer in the market for OEM setup)
250front /980 rear.
I roadcourse hpde but mainly time trials.
So far this has been a great combination.
Car is fast and very stable. It also pairs very well with front BMR sway bar (on the medium hole)
Less than a 1000$

next year upgrading to dedicated track coilovers probably JRi.
Please let me know what usage is your car for.
Alex
