Hi there,

Basically had to have my front lower control arm replaced.
Went with an independent reputable shop because it was close by but looks like they used an aftermarket part for it (CMS401219).

Already not happy about it being aftermarket vs. OEM but looking further into the part I don't even think it is the right match.
The original arm was KR3V-3A423-CE, which according to parts.ford.com was replaced by MCF2554.

CMS401219 on the other hand is supposed to fit:
FR3Z3078A, Replaced by MFC 2327 = Mustang convertible base with performance pack less adaptive damping
FR3Z3078C, Replaced by MCF 2329 = Mustang coupe 50th anniversary version with SVT Performance Pack less adaptive damping

Are these equivalent?

She does track straight (which she didn't before the exchange) but the steering wheel is off ~3-4 degrees, which according to the shop is just a matter of adjusting the alignment if it doesn't self correct.

Thanks,

Ben

Why did the control arm have to be replaced? did you hit a curb or something? Anytime a suspension component is replaced you should have the alignment checked/adjusted. Could potentially have something else damaged.

Yes pretty much, hit a concrete rain gutter head on (kind of like a curb...). Alignment was was checked and redone.

If they adjusted the alignment, they didn't have the steering wheel straight when doing it. Only way to fix that is to re-do it and make sure the steering wheel stays perfectly centered while adjusting the tie rods.

Makes sense to me. Any thoughts on whether or not the aftermarket part used is suitable?

The A/M control arm is probably fine. Only way to know for sure is to compare to the other side to make sure it's of the same design and thickness.

The GT500 uses specific ball joints that are only on GT500 and 2020 GT350R. They installed the wrong arm. It has the incorrect ball joint taper and flops around in the knuckle. This is not correct.

Thank you for the info. The shop is going to order the proper ones and replace them but unfortunately it seems that the part is backordered with out ETA :-(

In the meantime would (normal) driving with the current part be a concern and cause potential damage?
