Here are 3 images demonstrating why the 2018+ 10 speed GTs are just so damn quick. And yes, I agree the actual shift time is quicker on the auto, but its clear that the time spent near peak power is what really makes the difference and why the MPH so high.
I can also see a small benefit from the 2018 MT82 vs the 2015-17 with one less shift needed.
So even getting a 2015-17 to similar power levels @460 CHP, the transmission gearing advantage of the 10 speed is hard to make up.

BTW I own a 2017 MT82 and I have no regrets, just an observation. If I were interested in only drag racing, I'd likely sell mine and buy a new 10 speed, but I just loving shifting gears when out for drives.

Enough said! I have had 5 other Mustangs over the last 25 years with 5/6 speeds and do not miss any of them, especially in traffic. I could never manually shift this fast in my wildest dreams.

Minimizing rpm drop and keeping it in the upper rpm band along with consistent shifts and the speed at which is switches gears is all major advantages. Add in a higher stall converter and really you'd be dumb not to use a A10, with that said I'm dumb because I have a MT82, but should this ever get serious enough and I wanted to stay manual I'd just order up a liberty 5 speed and bang gears that way, but the car would never see street use again.

It looks like it may be beneficial to move the shift point of first and 2nd on the 10r80 cars up as high as you are comfortable with, am I correct? Youd be entering 2nd and 3rd with more power if you revved first and 2nd out higher.

Mine is set to shift at 7800 rpms via Palm Beach Dyno. Verified via datalogging.

I think thats too high for the rest of the gears since you make more HP around 6000 than above 7500. In the OP's graph you can see 1-2 drops the RPMS to 4700 and 2-3 drops it to 5300 , the rest all drop above 6k even with the stock 7400 shift point.

This is an e85 2018 dyno you can see there is actually more power made at 6000 than 7600. So at this point I think 7800+ is good for 1-2 and 2-3 but 7500 is best for 3-4-5-6-7. I may have them modify my shift points for 1-2 and 2-3, or try paddle shifting it and see if I get good results wringing out first and 2nd more. There is more torque though at the lower shift points not sure if that really matters. PBD sets your actual rev limiter to 8200 btw which is kind of insane but you never hit the limiter unless you accidently leave it in paddle mode, which is kind of awesome.
