I installed my steering wheel today, it arrive Wednesday and is very easy to install. One thing was bothering me after I installed though and that was a gap at the top of the steering between the air bag module and the the plastic part that is screwed to the wheel. After taking it off and on several times I finally noticed what the issue was. The plastic piece that has three screws in it was tightened down too much and pulling it back from the air bag causing the gap. It is an easy fix if you have done one and it bothers you like it did me. Just back the screws out until the piece is flush with the rest of the plastic trim on the wheel. It is just plastic that it screws into and can easily smash it down while tightening. I only used hand tools while doing the job today. Anyway here is the absolute piece of art added to my Shelby.

I like to disassemble things.
Tim does nice work. Really happy with my wheel from him too.

I initially had that gap also and it took me a couple of times removing the wheel to discover the screws were too tight, as you stated.

Same problem. Love the wheel; hate the gap. After removing and reinstalling several times, I was never able to figure out the solution. You guys are saints! Thanks.

It's amazing how this forum helps so many people and many times we don't realize our posts is the solution.

"Real Soon Now" turned out to be this morning. Didn't want to screw around with those damn airbag clips again but I pressed on. For a change, I actually remembered a couple key points, mainly to pull back against the t-handle tool to snug it up against the part that holds the clips. Once that spot is found, out she comes.

This time, I actually used a few brain cells and looked at the inserted tool with the bag off. Now I think I could do a clip in perhaps five seconds. :-)

In any event, I fixed the upper escutcheon or whatever it's called. Loosened the three screws a tad but for me, finding the right "click" for that thing to tuck under the back edge of the bag was the real "find." Now she looks perfect with Tim B's/Jaime's gorgeous wheel AND, the dang horn works on top AND bottom. (It didn't before so I knew operator error was involved the first time.) <yuk yuk>

Happy camper and thanks for the original tip, that got me movin'.

Does anyone know if Beith Performance has shut their doors? I've emailed them and I haven't received anything back from them.

He's an IG guy. New way of doing business, strictly social media.
