It is a shame that they didn't put the two oil gauges on the base models.
My track pack obviously had the gauges and I did not use them especially on track. The center cluster display has the same info and conveniently located for quick reference. The gauges are not in a good location and not angled properly for reference. These gauges where also on my S550 GT/PP and again shit location. They are more for aesthetics.

The reveal will be in months.

Quick, someone run out and pay thru the nose for 'the last' of the base 'Rs' .... before they're offered again in '19.

Just a hunch.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but one of them may very well be the last base models ever built.

I think we'll see the GT350 run alongside the GT500 for 1 year. That means we see the GT350 in '19.

It's a hunch (wink).

But - it could be wrong

I'd bet you could pick one of those up for a smaller ADM, so I wouldn't call that "through the nose". The base R models won't be offered again in '19 because of the backup camera.

I ordered my R over 8 months ago, and I've had plenty of time to think about this model and whether I wanted to go forward knowing that there will be a MY19 and that the GT500 is right around the corner. The months of thinking told me to absolutely get the GT350R and don't look back.

Why? The GT350/R is a special car, plain and simple, and every time I drive it it confirms it. Why is it to me? The flat plane crank sound, for one. #2, 8250... need I say more? #3- Naturally aspirated V8 with a manual gearbox, we know the GT500 will have a power adder and may be auto only. #4- I feel the looks of the GT350/R make it the best looking Mustang since the 60's. I honestly don't get the same feeling looking at any other modern mustang (or non-60's model).

On top of everything else, you do realize that with the R there will only be about 2000 models produced by the end of MY18? That's a pretty low number, so these are not overflowing wherever you look. If you want a certain color and want to be sure the car was taken care of, buying used will be very tough.

So while I get the "there's next year" and the "GT500 is coming" statements, I personally don't want to miss out on something I already knows checks all the boxes for me (and for most people on here and ESPECIALLY the current GT350 owners).

Since you don't own the GT350, I'm not surprised you feel the way you do.

Alright. I get it.

Pure base, as in nothing up front and center.

Cuz there has to be a screen there to view what the camera is seeing.

BTW, the last of the trio is in magnetic and not lead foot gray. Too bad it is a base car (I know some folks will disagree with me here :) )

Nope! only the Kona blue thus far will be a base.
As of about 10 days ago and shortly after the Kona Blue and Magnetic cars were built Ford put a hold on these 3 base cars and told the GM at Sun State Ford that the only way they could have 3 R models was to order them with the Electronics Package.

As of last Thursday the dealership convinced Ford to release only 1 of the 3 cars with that being the Kona Blue car and no word on the other two cars.

Why Ford decided to not release these base cars just after they were built is hard to say but they had some sort of reason which was not explained to the dealership?

If you had read post #10 you would see that the color was already confirmed as Magnetic and also a very good chance that this car will be an Electronics Package car now and not a base car so here is a great opportunity for you.

;)

Window sticker still says base though. I guess we will see how this plays out.

I'm not sure what the law mandating the backup camera actually requires, but the 2011 S197s had a screen in the rear-view mirror that displayed the backup camera. It would be trivial for them to add a system like that, and still have a 'true' base R.
