For those of you who've had catalytic converters crap out what were your symptoms and what did you do to fix it? I'm about 90% certain mine are going out but I'm not sure yet.

Get new ones. That would be a smart move. Or give a little more detail and get better answers. Stock, boosted? Symptoms? What's going on?

So I've noticed this rotten egg smell coming from my car the past few weeks under heavy acceleration. I've owned the car for two years and I've never smelled it before. No CEL or changes in drivability. The smell isn't present at all under normal driving conditions. I've heard mixed things on this forum of it either being perfectly normal or a sign that my cats are failing. Have an appointment with Ford in late October to get it looked at but I'm just wondering if I should stop driving the car to be safe.

Year? Mileage?
It's kind of unusual for cats to fail without some outside influences. Running rich, coolant leak (think headgasket), excessive overheating, etc.
In any case Federal law requires they be warranted to 8 years/80k miles.

When I had cats that happened quite often after a few hard pulls. If your not boosted I wouldn't sweat it personally. Look up cat overtemp protection.

Right after getting on it while still driving, rotten eggs, by the time I got home a few minutes later and shut it off, fuel and rubber.

Rotten egg smell is normal after hard acceleration. There is nothing wrong.
