My issue is the following:

My steering gear from my 2016 V6 Mustang felt a bit harder to turn since some time.
My mechanic told me, that my alternator is not working properly (it's overloading my battery, etc.), so the steering gear possibly could run in an "emergency mode", so that the steering gear can feel a bit harder/different than usual. After hearing that, I drove to Ford and they reconfigured my steering gear via "FDRS".
After that my steering gear worked properly again.

Yesterday I went back from holiday after 3 weeks, and when I started my vehicle, I noticed that the steering gear is harder turn again.
Now It looks like my mechanic could have been right. maybe the the steering gear is running again in an "emegerncy mode".

my question: can a bad alternator have an impact on an electric steering gear? is it even possible that the steering gear can run in an "emergency mode" due to insufficient alternator (without showing any errors via obd)?
