OK, so after reading all of this and a few other threads about both the 9 speaker and the B&O 12 speaker systems I'm torn. Is it really worth upgrading to the B&O? I am in the middle of ordering my new 2021 and now I'm not so sure its worth 995 if its this bad.

We didn’t have a choice in Australia, we all get it. The main advantage for me was always the sub enclosure because I have a Convertible and no one makes one that fits in the same place as the factory. I decided my B&O is perfectly fine as is with just a better sub and an amp. It rocks!:)

It's not bad, but for a few extra coins you can make it sound even better. The Pioneer sub upgrade is very simple and not expensive.

thanks for making this thread. After adding this sub, this sounds like what I figured it should have sound like from the factory.

Are the two models listed the same item? Because they’re both on Amazon US with a 15 dollar price difference. They also both are listed separately on a ‘top pioneer subs’ list I found

Actually there are 3 different Pioneer speakers referenced in this thread. 2 have been indicated to be of the same values and from what I’ve gathered only 1 person has installed the D version so theres really no comparison given. Here are shots if the threads and the speakers. I would like to have more input but in the end I am sure the difference is minimal. The D series cost 2x that if the A series and the specs are very close. Roughly $75 vs $150

hi there,

I have now also replaced my OEM-Subwoofer with a JL Audio 10W0v3-4 SW.

I am very satisfied with that.

the front speakers are okay.

now the only thing that annoys me are the rear speakers, they are really bad too.

Go with the JBL Stealthbox instead. I did and haven't looked back. It shakes my rear window.

JL Audio :like: Lot's of people mistype it to read JBL.

Which is why I fitted the Pioneer! I want to listen to music not shake my rear window
Which you can also do with the Stealthbox. :p (with a lot more headroom that is)

Yes, but the bass quality is just outstanding. Window shaking is just a perk. 😉

I just finished the sub swap in my GT. Used the Pioneer TS-D10D4. Pretty straight forward swap. Took about an hour. I notched each of the screw holes in the new sub and bolted it down using the original grille/holes. Worked like a charm.
I must say the OEM sub is one of the cheapest, weakest looking piece of shit speakers that I've ever seen in an "upgraded" sound system. I've seen better cones in a Radio Shack alarm clock. It should be headed to my local landfill by this afternoon.

When you say it took about a hour, is there any chance that you could give us your particular step-by-step install including removing the stock grill, exact wiring hook up and exactly what you notched? Thanks a ton.

If you go back to the start of the thread - it is all there as per my install including speaker options
