Have you looked at the GT350 hubs with their splines on the fronts?
You are not the first person to bring this up. I purchased a complete GT350 spindle to see if it made sense to use some of those parts. As you can see in the attached picture, the spline is very short and very fine. The only vehicle I could find that uses that spline count is the 2015ish Explorers. Even then, the Explorer hubs have are splined the whole length. I am convinced the only reason those splines are present is for when they manufacture the hub an have to spin form the rear flange to hold the bearing together. They are not there for a CV joint.

Think its just for the friction upset welding the pieces together in production?

Looks like those splines are broach cut...

Maybe its made on the same machine as the Explorer hubs..
Hmmmm isnt X650 sharing architecture with CD Explorer?...
hmmmmm....

Wonder if someone from Ford can 'leak' some more pics of the AWD mule... please oh please oh please oh please oh please....

Both the Aston Martin and Jaguar used (give or take 10 cars) in the Bond film "Die another Day" were converted to AWD with Mustang underpinnings iirc. I don't see why a similar idea can't be used here.

Wow, you are in Mn. I am in Minn. would love to pop over from time to time and check on progress? look at other cool stuff? I love AWD Cars, what I really wish I had was a Mazda 1988 GTX, those are rare IMO!
Had a 2004 Audi S4 6pd, and now drive a G35X for winter and commuting.
