So I've been driving the car around a a little bit, couple of track days didn't back to the drags. Loads of fun as a track car and will punish you with the slightest touch of the throttle!
Tried flat shifting for the first time! ended me day!

Wasn't really happy with the front end but mainly the rear. Purchased MCA (Aussie Company) RED race series coil over (not true coil over in rear) As well as the upgraded sway bars. All installed and sent off for an alignment, same guy I use forever thing. Comes back all good. The rear of the car feels really light mid to off throttle mid turn. un-nerving. Go back to MCA and they are happy with the set up even threw in spare heavier spring and retainers for free nice work! I finally worked out both wheel bearing had gone at 15,000km I was shocked. Ford Australia would touch the car, however I expected more out of that. Fixed the rear bearings and holy crap. it's a go-cart!

Nothing happened to the gear box snapped a belt being cheeky. Car over heats throws codes everywhere I was just lucky to get back to the pits.
I have been really lucky with the MT82. I changed fluid almost straight away, I have dropped the engine 1 inch with the BMR engine mounts. I have the Steeda Tri-Ax shifter which itself is a beautiful piece of kit. Mantic twin plate clutch. Driveshaft aluminium driveshaft.
I honestly think dropping the engine aligns everything (could be talking out of my arse) but it beautiful now. Was going to T56 Magnum or TH400 might not yet

I put a set of headers in before hand I have them ceramic coated to keep engine bay temps down. Planned on a 4 - 8 h installation however these left hand drive cars have shit everywhere. Took me 4 days! They are too quiet too but over here you get police attention real quick.
Once installed I give the car a rev sounds good, my brother in law states go to limiter. Sure! All his kids run away lol. Letting the car idle down I hear like a coke can rattle in the exhaust, walk around the back of the car and there is cat converter everywhere blew them out in one rev! I didn't need them anywayz

So things are starting to slow down, I think I have the car pretty sorted however the stock motor is on borrowed time. So for the last 12ish months I've been saving reading up what works and what doesn't and started growing an engine build list

JE Pistons with upgraded Nickle alloy piston pins
Boostline rods (what else can be said rated up to 2000hp)
Bored and sleeved by a local company with an excellent reputation
Every bolt will be ARP if it can be
10 rib conversion for the Whipple
20% overdriven ATI Balancer
Boss timing chain tensioners
GT350 Main chains
MMR Oil squirter block offs
King Racing bearing throughout
MMM rear head cooling mod
New billet oil pump gears as the oil ones were damaged.

SO engine is out. What a mission. dropped all the oil, thought it would be a wise idea to soak up with builders sand. Now I have Oily sand. It took a day of cleaning just to get rid of that crap.
Engine wise everything looked good, there was a little bit of concerning oxidation from the oil ( I emailed the company and the reply was shitty) Forged oil pumps are damaged. I think from the supercharger belt snaps

Just waiting on Sleeves Covid-19 has slowed everything down so this post will slow down as things happen

Awesome write-up and pics Matt. Commitment!

How's the ride and compliance with the MCAs? Had them on a GTR and was happy but hadn't found anyone else running them on a Mustang. Was going to just roll the dice but they told me they don't do real world testing, if I was in QLD it wouldn't matter as I could have them drive it but decided to hold off. Interested in your thoughts. Also what upper rear mounts are you running?

Is that a new oil pickup tube in the parts pic? What did the oil company say?

Is it normal for a forged op to be damaged by a belt snap? There were some issues reported on here with a particular brand of op not being manufactured to correct clearances.

Why are you blocking off the piston squirters?

Apologies for all the questions, just found your thread.

Cheers!

Hi GT500

Thanks for the kind words.

I went with the MCS as I'm from Brisbane and if needed could get tech support easily. Initially they sent really stiff front springs (almost too stiff) and the rear were too soft 10km/mm. I asked them about the rears as they were very soft (I have an ice tank in the rear spare tyre well) Installed 14kg/mm springs and so much better. Wouldn't spend money anywhere else suspension wise. They come will all mounts required which was nice too (the reds series).

The new oil pick up was purchased to put into the built engine still working on a belly pan for that.

I have a feeling it was 'that' brand. I was really surprised there was any damage to be honest.

I have to block off the squirter to make was for the larger big ends of the Boostline rods or they will make contact. Won't matter too much with cooling as it will be ethanol only car from now.

Happy to answer the questions if you keep asking them.

I got the sleeves but FedEx lost 2 of the 8 of them but MMR are freighting me out the lost set free of charge the legends.

Regards

Matt

Typed from phone so probably many mistakes.

Thanks Matt,

That cat failure seems very poor for just a free rev, even with FI. Same brand as the headers?

Did the MCA rears come with their own upper mounts? Don't recognise the design, looks like a rubber bushing?

Are you doing any notable block mods other than cooling? For example IIRC the Gen 3 went back to Gen 1 head bolt size (12>12.5?).

Just a thought, it might be worth posting a link to this thread in the 'What did you do to your Aussie S550 today' which is very active. Suspect a lot of people would be interested in following a local build of this calibre but don't know about it.

Cheers

Hi GT500

The cat failure was totally my fault. I didn't want them anyways lol.

The upper mounts on the MCA are a single billet unit. (I'm not near the car and won't be for a bit but I believe there is a steel ball mount in there.) I'd be more worried the car ripping apart then that failing.

I was thinking about the 12mm upgrade from the 11mm however I already purchased the ARP head studs and I'm not planning on pushing more than the 2.9L Whipple can throw at it which is about 25psi which should be less with headers, no cats and a 3in all the way back.

Then honestly I'm going to have MT82 issues. Maybe swap to a Tremec T56 Magnum or a TH400 which is the direction I'll likely go.

I honestly have no idea how to merge a thread but that' a great idea.

One thing I wanted to add the missing cylinder liners that were lost by Fedex. MMR has sent the 2 missing set out to Australia on their dime! I can not rate their customer service high enough. No issues. Bitching just we're really sorry what's your address we'll send them out tomorrow with UPS. Legends #boycottfedex

Matt I'll just post the link to this thread in the other one, if it's merges it'll be lost on here and there's probably plenty of folks who are watching it in this location.
