Howdy Folks,

Sorry, but could someone explain what the point of a tow-hook would be on a car for the track? Is it used to put the car on and off a trailer or something? I am not familiar with racing terminology or anything like that, and had always though you used a tow hook when you towed a trailer or something. Which is something I would never do with my GT LOL.

A tow hooks any real use is to get a broken vehicle either off the track, road and onto a waiting trailer to tow it somewhere else to be fixed. The real opinions come when you ask people if its an acceptable visual mod for a car that never ever see's a track of any kind.

Some tracks have very soft gravel in areas where a car might miss a turn and go off track. So even if your car is undamaged it might be stuck and need a tow. Other explanation is a bad crash on a track day that leaves your car undrivable. It happens.

Or you cant drive. or keep your car running.
There are many track events and organizations that REQUIRE tow hooks no matter what your competency. And it's not always you. There are other cars on the course and things can happen with other drivers too and you can get involved, as much as it sucks.

Careful where you tread with that comment. You're kinda showing your true track experience colors...

First off it is your car, if you like it go for it! Second, who’s going to know if you track your car or not! If your going to mod your car and make it yours, why give a f@#$ what others think.
Anyway here is a pic of an S550 with a tow hook, I stole the pic from jake_zx2 a member on here. Looks decent, if you don’t want it noticeable then paint it black or body color.

Title sums it up nicely. The definition of rice is: Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements for those unfamiliar with the acronym.
who cares... You're the one making the payments right? If ypu want to put a basmati decal on it put a basmati decal on it...

Driving a gt350 as a daily is rice....

Technically driving anything with more than 85hp on the street is rice.

Your car do whatever u want

The tow hook is used for when u go off track the wrecker can have a safe point to hook to to drag u back unto the road. In a sand or gravel trap the factory tow points sometimes get in accessible, or the winch cable can damage your aero or cooling more.

100% and as a general note never do any form of performance driving with a car you aren't prepared to lose. I remember a guy had a radical at VIR that he used to break the lap record. One day he was driving a car infrontvof him blew an oil hose dumped oil over the track, he had no time to reazct and spun out into a wall. He walked away fine but the car was totalled....

You will never drive 100% in a car you care about, and if you dont drive 100% you wont learn anything
