Soon after swapping my M3 for a PP GT, I contacted Apex Race Parts to ask about their rim availability for the S550 Mustang. They now have those products available, including 18" rims that clear the 6-pot Brembo brakes - perfect for track days and auto-X.

These were the "go to" rims for tracking M3's - light and strong and great value for the their price point. I'd recommend you take a look!

Hi M3Convert (redacted to protect the innocent),

This is Steve; I'm the VP of sales at APEX. Due to tremendous demand, today we we're excited to perform test fitments on a 2015 GT Performance Pack down in Los Angeles. Thanks are due to GSR Autosport for use of their Guard Green GT PP!

I'd be happy to reply with pictures of brake and/or tire clearance on request (if we send them now, this email could go into spam). The takeaway was that, as usual, our EC-7 wheels have class leading brake clearance and very clean chassis fitment.

Below is the current fitment data compiled for using 18"x10 APEX wheels on your S550! Please let us know if you have any questions:

The 18x10 EC-7 Mustang-specific wheels can be found here: http://www.apexraceparts.com/apex-products/S550-Mustang/18x10-ET43-APEX-EC-7-Mustang-Wheel.html#.VgSG_Y9VhBc

Below is our most up to date APEX MUSTANG S550 2015+ EC-7 Fitment Guide, please use this to select a tire size for your needs:

------

>>Direct Fitment, square 18x10 wheel and tire fitments:

265/45-18 for customers who want to elect a comfortable road tire with good grip. Available in the popular Michelin Pilot Super Sport. This is a direct fitment.

275/40-18 for street, Auto X & track days, 3.62% shorter than OE for a mechanical gearing advantage and is already proving one of the most popular 18” S550 sizes. Available in a wide range of popular extreme performance tires, a direct fitment with street and many R compound tires.

275/45-18. This keeps gearing about identical to stock. Available in a wide range of tires, like the Potenza RE050 & Continental ContiSportContact 3. There is some chance with certain tires of rubbing- when used with 5mm or ¼” spacers on the front axle you will have ideal strut clearance. This wider front track improves stability; you would only add spacers to the rear if desired for appearance. Spacers available from Maximum Motorsports & American Muscle.

-------

>>Aggressive Fitment, square 18x10 wheel and tire fitments:

275/40/18 for street, Auto X & track days, 3.62% shorter than OE for a mechanical gearing advantage and is already proving one of the most popular 18” S550 sizes. Available in a wide range of popular extreme performance tires, like RS-3- these can also be used on the street if you so desire and are a direct fitment for most brands of tires. Good for tracking a stock car, or with lowering springs, we have tested Nitto NT01s R compounds to fit.

[FITMENTS BELOW MAY REQUIRE A 5mm SPACER]

285/40-18 tire gives a 2.48% gearing advantage over the OE Perf Pack sizes and is also a great everyday road setup. Combine with Maximum Motorsports or other high quality spacers for a wider track and clearance for meaty tires. Popular tires for this size are the Continental ExtremeContact DW. Others include Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3, Pirelli P-Zero Rosso, Eagle F1 Supercar and more. We recommend a 5mm or 1/4" spacer be used, this is a tight fit so camber plates may be required depending on tires used.

For super meaty 18x10” fitment for street or track use, you may elect for a 285/35/18, this actually has an appropriate and advantageous 2.48% reduction in height ve OE. Some Extreme performance street and R compound tires may require spacers for this fitment. A 5mm or ¼” spacers on the front axle has ideal strut clearance. This wider front track improves stability; you would only add spacers to the rear if desired for appearance. Spacers available from Maximum Motorsports (our choice), American Muscle, etc. This is a tight fit so camber plates may be required depending on tires used, like R compounds or slicks.

You can use 295/40-18, 1.34% smaller than OE Perf Pack and a very popular Mustang tire- only available from Falken in their AZENIS RT-615K tire. We recommend camber plates on the front to avoid rubbing. *These should be used with 5mm or ¼” spacers on the front axle for ideal strut clearance. This wider front track improves stability; you would only add spacers to the rear if desired for appearance. Spacers available from Maximum Motorsports (our choice), American Muscle, etc. This is a tight fit so camber plates may be required.

295/30-18s are going to be the most aggressive fitment for 10” wheels. a 5.5% reduction in overall height means a gear advantage and a 295 width is a big contact patch! Popular tires include Yokohama AD08R, Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, Potenza RE050A *These should be used with 5mm or ¼” spacers on the front axle for ideal strut clearance. This wider front track improves stability; you would only add spacers to the rear if desired for appearance. Spacers available from Maximum Motorsports (our choice), American Muscle, etc. This is a tight fit so camber plates may be required depending on tires used.

Note: Coilover fitments are not yet compiled for the S550. If you have coilover suspension and run into coilover clearance problems, running a correspondingly thicker spacer (like a 5-10mm spacer) and additional camber would be the correct solution.
