Apex EC7 versus SVE R357?

I'm trying to buy a set of anthracite 19x10s and have narrowed it down to these 2 wheels. I think they are both flow formed? For some reason shipping costs are quite different between LMR and Apex which closes the price gap a little although the cost is getting out of hand by the time I get this delivered up north. The Apex wheels end up being about $125 more ea. Aesthetics aside is it worth stepping up to the Apex wheels for the street?

No. But, the APEX EC7 looks much better IMO. At first I thought I liked the R357s but I actually prefer the Drifts over them.
But to answer your question, there is no worry about the SVE R357s. Buy, mount and enjoy.

Yeah the EC7s have more softly rounded edges and I think they look a little better. At almost $700/wheel Cdn I might be ok with the R357s. I don't believe the Drifts are available in 19.

You might want to see if you can buy a used set of APEX. It floats around a lot on the Facebook pages - just a thought. Might save you some coin. You can usually find them with tires in the $1,000-$1,200 range. Even if you ditch the tires, it's probably saving you money.

All I can find local is PP wheels. Getting someone to ship is never easy either even within Canada.

Yeah, must be tough. I say if you like the R357 and makes sense go for it. You can also get wider than the Drifts which are only 9.5".

I have the Apex. Great wheels, excellent customer service. They are very helpful even after the sale with general questions or trouble shooting that have nothing to do with their product. A great company to deal with. Maybe you can wait for a group buy. Ask if they have any upcoming.

Ec7 is a great wheel. Many racers use them on track cause they are solid.

Allow you to clear the brembos with 18" wheels

I think the Apex EC7 wheels look smaller than their diameter because the Apex design stops the spokes about 3/4" from the outer perimeter of the wheel and there is a fairly large flat edge all the way around the wheel. It makes the 19" wheels appear visually more like 18" wheels due to the shorter spokes. The SVE R357 extend out to about 1/4" from the outer wheel edge, which looks better IMO.

I noticed that too. I even checked the tire profile and was surprised they were 30/35. The Apex wheels are more $$$ than the R357s which are out of stock so I might end up with the SVE S350s in the end anyway.

SVE R350s for the win! I love mine. 19x10 +35 all around w/ factory PP1 tires, and the wheels only weigh 24 lbs each (9 lbs lighter each than the factory black PP1 wheels):

By the way, when I was looking to buy the gloss black R350 wheels it said they were out of stock. I clicked the "notify me" button and within a couple of days they were back in stock. If you really like the R357 wheels try that route and see if they are in stock relatively quickly.

We love the EC-7 wheel here at APEX, and it's my personal favorite too. They are strong, lightweight, and clear pretty much every brake kit out there. Don't be fooled by thinking you don't need durable wheels "for just the street". The street is a very rough place on wheels/tires, no more or less than a racetrack. Pot holes, curbs, construction zones, and more can all cause serious damage.
