I have them because I was trying to keep the price down. I read a review on them being used on a track in New Orleans and they were saying how nice they were. I like them myself but that's coming from the stock 255s to my 275/35/20s and 305/35/20s on Project 6GR Tens 20x10 and 20x11. They seem to stick pretty well but I haven't tried Michelin or Continental to compare.
They have massive rain channels, as shown in the above photos so it's not surprising that they're good in the wet. The Indy 500 has a lot of tread to put on the pavement, which is great when it's dry but can be a problem when there's a layer of water in-between. I'd anticipate the Indy 500 to be better in the dry. Michelin MP4S will smack both around, but certainly at a higher price point.
Have'em on my PP2 and like them. About .1G less than the 305s (which, admittedly weren't used to the max).
Bought 5 of them so I have a spare and can rotate.
thanks for the replies; since these will be used on a DD the wet capability is important. they are replacing GY F1 a/s tires, so I'm thinking the the dry capability will be a big step up even if it fall below what the FS Indy could do..
I got a set on Friday. So far I am pleased with them. My only complaint would be they have a little more road noise than my F1's. But they hook very well. Haven't had a chance to test them out in the rain yet.
General is owned by Conti. Their RT43 all-season tire is an absolute steal in value, only hampered by some unfortunate tread growl-type road noise that comes through on cars without much sound deadening in that frequency range (such as my Toyota Camry I put them on). Anyway, the claim is General can use the same compound but does a different tread pattern, found in some cases to be "too noisy" for Continental use but otherwise excellent. If that rumor is true, I'd have zero problem buying these tires myself for street duty, especially since my exhaust will cover up any road noise worth mentioning anyway. General is a great tire these days... usually.
